The Russian Navy will receive a series of new amphibious assault ships on an air cushion
The Navy will receive new amphibious air cushion ships. The decision to build a series of DKVP was made by the Ministry of Defense.
The Russian military department decided to equip the Navy with new amphibious air-cushion ships. True, this is not about the resumption of the construction of Project 12322 Zubr landing craft and Project 12061 Murena landing craft. As they write "News" with reference to military sources, a new project of the DKVP will be developed.
According to the newspaper, several technical projects of landing boats are currently being worked out. According to preliminary data, a series of DKVP with a carrying capacity of 60-70 tons will be built. There is no other information at the moment.
For our part, we note that back in 2018, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov announced the need to build a series of air-cushion landing ships for the Russian fleet... According to him, the construction of "several dozen" DKVP was included in the weapons program until 2027.
Meanwhile, the Russian defense industry has already developed a replacement for the Ukrainian gas turbine engines that were installed on the Zubr and Murena air-cushion landing ships. The work was carried out for three years on the basis of the M70FRU GTE. During this time, it was possible to develop new modifications of the engine and units, which makes it possible to completely replace the Ukrainian power plants with DKVP, including reversible engines.
At present, the Russian Navy has two Project 12322 Zubr MDKVPs - Mordovia and Evgeny Kocheshkov, which are part of the Baltic Fleet; there are no Project 12061 Murena landing boats in the Navy.
