Zelensky signs a decree introducing a new military rank for the rank and file of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
A new military rank has appeared in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will precede the rank of "soldier" ("sailor"). President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree changing the order of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the new decree, a new title of "recruit" is being introduced in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This rank will be the very first for the rank and file and will be awarded to citizens who entered military service under a rank and file contract for the first time and who do not have a previously assigned rank. With the rank of "recruit" a private will walk until he takes the oath, after which he will be awarded the rank of "soldier" ("sailor").
Thus, the rank of "recruit" will precede the rank of "soldier" (private).
By the same decree, the first rank for officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is defined as "junior lieutenant" and not "lieutenant" as it was before. Prior to that, the rank of "junior lieutenant" was conferred on special occasions. Now it is officially the first officer.
Recall that earlier the ranks of foremen and warrant officers were removed from the Ukrainian army as "remnants of the Soviet era" that did not meet NATO standards. Then the ranks of brigadier general and commander-admiral appeared.
Earlier it was reported that the new ranks in the Armed Forces of Ukraine would sound like this: recruit, soldier, senior soldier, junior sergeant, sergeant, senior sergeant, first sergeant, staff sergeant, master sergeant, senior master sergeant, chief master sergeant. Changes will also take place in the Naval Forces of Ukraine: instead of midshipmen, there will be a headquarters foreman, a foreman, a senior foreman and a chief foreman. In other words, we are actually talking about the NATO (specifically - American) classification.
