New reconnaissance drone "Merlin-BP" developed in Russia

A new reconnaissance drone "Merlin-BP" has been developed in Russia; the developer is the Smolensk Scientific Research Institute of Modern Telecommunication Technologies.

The reconnaissance UAV "Merlin-VR" is capable of conducting reconnaissance in automatic and semi-automatic modes for 10 hours at an altitude of up to 5 km. Payload drone is 6,5 kg, it is capable of carrying various reconnaissance equipment. The engine is hybrid.

The task of the UAV "Merlin-VR" is called the detection and observation of structures and objects at any time of the day, under various weather conditions, including under snow cover and behind camouflage nets, as well as the assessment of the visibility of objects.

The drone was demonstrated to the military, as well as to representatives of the military-industrial complex of Russia. The possibility of carrying out full-fledged tests is currently being considered.

Note that UAV developers from the Smolensk Research Institute of Modern Telecommunication Technologies have previously presented a whole aviation unmanned reconnaissance complex "Filibuster". The complex consisted of two Merlin-21BM drones and a mobile control center based on a KamAZ vehicle.

According to the developers, the Merlin-BP UAV is a further development of the Merlin-21BM. The new drone has a large size, and, accordingly, a large load, flight altitude and range.

The very beginning of the 80s, In one book- * It's hard to be a god * and this thing, I don't remember the year of publication, was quite small, about 10 years, probably. Mom worked as a bookbinder in the city library, she managed to read a lot of things, both at her work and at home. Some almanacs of adventures and fiction - I don't remember the name at all - I first read * The Last War *, * The Secret Fairway * and the story of the North of Gansovsky * The Master of the Bay * * The Last War * - in the original version - with a literary competition for * Segezha *, the main * writer * - kitchen robot Grishka

"Stalker" can hardly be attributed to the Strugatskys. Even the intermediate scenario "Desire Machine" is very far from "Picnic". Rather, the Strugatskys completely rewrote everything "under the dictation" of Tarkovsky.

                  - When he asked you for permission to film Roadside Picnic, did you and your brother immediately agree?

                  - Tarkovsky did not ask us for permission. He offered cooperation. And we agreed right away, because we immediately realized that we would have to work with a genius, which means we would have to fulfill his requirements. Nine scenarios, and only once or twice did we manage to defend our position. However, we convinced him of the main thing: the world of the film should be realistic, and the Miracle should only be felt as a “skin”, not be conspicuous.

                  - Is the film version more philosophical than the book?

“They are too different to compare. The story is about the fact that we do not know why we exist. And the movie is about the fact that life without a saint in the soul is not life at all.

It is, of course, good that industry and science are trying to move forward. But it seems that the Ministry of Defense should analyze everything well, predict and issue technical specifications for development itself, and not vice versa. Otherwise, it turns out not system planning and work, but a competition of artistic self-activity.

Thanks for the link. Keep the plus.

PS That's why I asked. Well, since there is a modest silence, it is most likely that a Chinese clone of some kind of European version. As an option - Austrian (Austrians even sell small engines to us in the Urals at UZGA, and drones are also riveted there).
It's just that if it was our own, it would most likely be reported with great fanfare.

So we have enough of our own, primordial, themes for the name ... a magician, sorcerer, other national motives.
So it's not about the names, but national, their motives raise the spirit, and it is more understandable, for anyone who created it and why.

New is good! why is the name not ours?

Probably because many leaders continue to see themselves in the global world system.

Yes, everything is as usual - blah-blah-blah-developed in Russia. From Chinese components, and maybe something from Western adversaries they took, except for the name ..

Give a few of them to Lisa-Alert - that's where there would be great civilian use.

at an altitude of up to 5 km.
Unfortunately, this is not the best characteristic, which means that this UAV will be in the zone of destruction of most anti-aircraft weapons. Now they are trying to ensure UAV walking at altitudes up to 6 km, which dramatically increases the chances of survival

For those who are surprised by the name. You will be surprised, but Merlin is a Russian surname. If you don't believe me, check it out on any social network. And once there was a noble family like this - the Merlins.

little information .. but in fact one percent of its complement is important .. if the engine and the rest are our own, then this is very cool ... because 6,5 kilograms of load is more than Orlan-10, in fact there is a real opportunity to create a light reconnaissance UAV with strike weapons on board
