Large-scale exercises of the Airborne Forces began in the Crimea, units from the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Formation of the Airborne Forces were involved in them. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The exercises of the airborne assault and artillery regiments from the compound will be held at the Opuk training ground in the Crimea and will last three days. The main task is to practice defense using standard weapons and military equipment of the Airborne Forces. According to the scenario, the paratroopers will work out the organization of a mobile defense in day and night conditions, as well as the transition from defense to offensive. The final part of the exercise will be live firing.
In total, up to 2 thousand servicemen and more than 100 units of military and special equipment of the Airborne Forces will be involved in the regimental tactical exercise.

It is noted that for the first time new military equipment, which was put into service this summer, will be used in the exercises at the test site. We are talking about BMD-4M and MDM armored personnel carriers "Shell". A battalion set of new equipment consisting of 31 BMD-4M and 8 MDM armored personnel carriers received the connection in early June this year.
In addition, other equipment already in service with the Airborne Forces participates in the exercises: Tanks T-72B3, self-propelled artillery guns 2S9 "Nona-S" and 122-mm howitzers D-30.
