The reason for the transfer of underwater training of American "green berets" from the reservoir to the pool in the state of Kentucky
In the United States, it was necessary to interrupt the military exercises of the special forces. Exercises were conducted at the Fort Campbell training ground in Kentucky. The reason is named.
The suspension of the exercises, as it turns out, is connected with the death of the "green beret" during the training of the operation under water.
The command of the Fort Campbell base reports that we are talking about the 29-year-old Special Forces soldier Paul Lincoln Olmsted, who drowned in the Joe Swing Park Reservoir, partly related to a military training ground.
Olmsted was reportedly sent to Kentucky from Utah as part of the unit. One of the tasks was to demonstrate the capabilities of the American Green Berets on and under water. During the execution of a combat training mission, which provides for holding the breath under water, a tragedy occurred. Olmsted dived and was never seen alive after that.
The body of an American special forces soldier who served in the elite special company "Bravo" of the 1st battalion of the 19th special purpose brigade could only be found the next day.
Spokesman for the 1st US Special Forces Command, Major Dan Lessard:
It should be emphasized that there is a special course for the American special forces, part of which is designated MAC. The general name of the course is Combat Diver or CDQC. It involves the training of special operations under water and is one of the most difficult forms of training sessions.
What exactly caused the tragedy at the reservoir has not yet been reported. At the same time, it is noted that this is the second death of an American special forces soldier during MAC training sessions since July this year. In the summer, during such exercises, 31-year-old Sergeant M. Walker was killed.
