China prepares to introduce high-altitude reconnaissance UAV WZ-7

37

The China 28 air show will take place in the city of Zhuhai in the south of China from September 3 to October 2021. China is preparing to present the WZ-7 high-altitude reconnaissance UAV for the first time.

This is reported by the Chinese newspaper Global Times, citing a representative of the PLA Air Force.

It is believed that the drone will become one of the main exhibits of the salon. He will be presented at a static exposition.

In the design of this one of the largest Chinese military drones there is a tandem wing, which allows to increase its range up to seven thousand kilometers. Due to this, they plan to use it for reconnaissance flights, patrolling the sea area and in other missions that require increased endurance. The takeoff weight of the UAV is 7 kilograms. At the same time, it is capable of carrying a combat load weighing up to 500 kilograms. In the future, they are going to equip it with equipment for aiming missiles at offshore facilities.

Previously, the drone had the code name "Soaring Dragon", but now it received the official name WZ-7 and was adopted by the People's Liberation Army of China.

In addition, the fifth generation J-20 fighter, J-16D electronic warfare aircraft, H-6K bomber, Y-20 military transport aircraft and other products of the Chinese defense industry will be shown at the air show. Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to see a large-scale air show with the participation of the PLA Air Force aerobatic teams.

      - and other products of the Chinese defense industry.
      I wonder if there will be a high-speed rocket-drone WZ-8.
The drone is equipped with rocket engines, and on the upper part of the fuselage there are hardpoints ... Apparently, to save fuel, they will launch, for example, from the H-6.
The drone will be able to conduct reconnaissance at any time, that is, it will be more effective than reconnaissance satellites that fly in a certain orbit. ...

Hurray, a sufficient number of technologies have appeared in the "general" access and the Chinese have found ... this thing!

By the number of patents received in 2020 China (1)
ahead of all other countries in aggregate.
And, in particular, their "closest" competitors -
    (2nd place USA - 621 453, 3rd place Japan - 307 969)

For reference: we (RF) received 35 patents.
(World Intellectual Property Organization: World Intellectual Property Indicators 2020.)

In general, investment in R&D is paying off.

So the emergence of "new products" is natural and inevitable.

probably, the general level of education in the country affects.

In 2019, 40 Chinese universities were included in the QS World University Rankings.
There are six Chinese universities in the first hundred of the list.
And the Times Higher Education (THE) 2019 ranking of the best universities in developing countries includes 72 Chinese universities, and four of them are in the first positions.
Russia, for example, is represented in this ranking by 35 universities, the best of which is Moscow State University. Lomonosov, placed on the fifth line.

For maintaining patents, you need to pay money every year, and if your patents are dead weight and are of no interest to anyone, there is only negative sense from them.

Yes, yes, all stupid ... patenting just like that. laughing Try to get around a well-drafted patent. The patent is holding back competitors. Either buy or wait for the patent owner to skim all the cream off his production.
A patent is more often a stick in the wheels of competitors than an application "I'm the smartest"

They are bypassed - most of the patents are improvements to existing developments - and 90% of these patents remain dead weight, little to create and improve, it still needs to be implemented.

I think that's all. The Chinese are inquisitive and
        very practical guys.

Where did the "specialists" come from?
            Nowhere.
I myself am from a lost generation.
            W / O early 90s. First, of course.
Really went by profession in the 200s,
and before that, the country was lying around and repaying its debts to the IMF.

            Youth, let them see

Thanks to this, it is planned to be used for reconnaissance flights, patrolling the sea area and in other missions that require increased endurance.

And I liked the "increased endurance" more ...

It's not about the marathon runners, but about the stubborn unwillingness of local newsmakers to strain and their ignorance.
The google breeder translated endurance as "endurance," and they wrote it. And to see what in this case is translated as "duration" is not destiny. That is, in normal Russian the phrase sounds: "Thanks to this, it is planned to use it for reconnaissance, patrolling the sea area and in other cases requiring a long flight duration."

It remains only to hang a New Year's garland on it. Chinese "5th generation" fighters fly on engines that were installed on the SU-27.

"... there is a tandem wing, which allows to increase its range ..."

And to design with a large wingspan would probably be better. And then some kind of high-rise maize)
What is the meaning of this particular scheme?

I would venture to suggest that they just could not master the long wing based on the materials, I had to do it with two shorter ones.

Compactness. U2 has an impressive scale, so the infrastructure was changed for it.

Nonsense. The wingspan of the U-2 is only 24 meters, which is less than even that of the C-130.

You are wrong. Yes, at that time there were aircraft with a large wing span. But they did not need to be hidden in hangars from the effects of meteorological precipitation, and later, from satellites. Therefore, we had to make wider than standard hangars.
