Military tensions have become commonplace: ships of non-Black Sea NATO countries reappeared in the Black Sea
The Italian minesweeper Viareggio and the Spanish patrol ship Rayo passed the Dardanelles and Bosphorus straits last night. This means that the ships of the non-Black Sea NATO countries have reappeared in the Black Sea.
This was reported by the media with reference to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, as well as to the official NATO accounts.
The Russian military department said that the Black Sea Fleet is closely following all actions of the North Atlantic Alliance near the maritime borders of the Russian Federation.
Of course, this situation cannot but cause concern, but it seems that military tension has already become commonplace, because such visits are repeated regularly.
Considering that Russia is a Black Sea state, one can understand the concern about the appearance in the Black Sea of warships of countries whose coast it does not wash. Moreover, these are the ships of the military bloc, the command of which openly calls Russia one of its main opponents.
More difficult to understand is the concern of American experts about the exercises that Russia is conducting near its own shores. In particular, such concerns were expressed by the US columnist Mark Episkopos in an article published by the National Interest. In it, he expressed fears in connection with the strengthening of the defense capability of the Crimean peninsula and large-scale Russian naval exercises, which are carried out against the background of periodically organized NATO operations (in fact, provocations - as in the well-known stories with the British destroyer Defender).
In July of this year, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that countries outside the Black Sea region are artificially aggravating the situation here. At the same time, it was noted that this is a large share of the responsibility of Turkey, which controls the passage of ships through the Bosphorus.
