Representatives of the new Afghan government have allocated funds for the reconstruction of the Salang tunnel, which connects the northern and southern parts of the country. Let us recall that the representatives of the Taliban movement (* a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation) constitute the core of the current Afghan government.

For the reconstruction of the tunnel on the Salang pass, 53 million afghanis (about 650 thousand US dollars) were allocated from the Afghan treasury.

Heavy construction equipment was brought up to the pass, including bulldozers, excavators and heavy-duty trucks.

According to the deputy head of the new Afghan Ministry of Finance, who launched the reconstruction of the Salang tunnel, this is the first part of a large-scale project, which includes the construction of a full-fledged highway through Salang. According to them, the reconstruction of the tunnel will be completed by November this year - in order to be in time before the onset of winter cold.
