Chilean submarine successfully completes mock attacks on US Navy AUG

Diesel-electric submarines Carrera

On September 14, at the Point Loma Naval Base (San Diego), the closing ceremony of the DESI joint exercise was held, during which the US military trains the skills of fighting and interacting with diesel-electric submarines. They are held internationally, since the US Navy only has nuclear submarines.

Traditionally, sailors from Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Chile take part in DESI maneuvers. This time, the crew of the Chilean diesel-electric submarine Carrera (SS-22) of the French project Scorpene stood out. The US military pointed to "outstanding performance during the exercise of the sailors from the submarine Carrera."

They successfully carried out two mock attacks on strike teams, working in conjunction with helicopter squadrons of the US Navy, and thereby demonstrated the enormous threat that Chilean submarine forces pose in battle.

- indicated on the website of the US Department of Defense DVIDS.

As noted, the crew of the diesel-electric submarine Carrera participated in the exercises for two months together with the American aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) - the flagship of the aircraft carrier strike group (AUG). As indicated, the main task of the maneuvers was to practice the skills of dealing with diesel-electric submarines, which are necessary in the conditions of "confrontation between the great powers."

Not AUG, but some kind of a gateway. And also the DPL worked with the helicopter groups, but in both cases the helicopter pilots helped them. Either they guided them, or they missed them, well, in general they helped. I don't believe.

The American headquarters initially put the AUG in the most difficult conditions. The task is not to "win", but to find holes that cannot be seen with a blurry look.

And they will not see. The Baltic and the Russian Sea are not oceans for you. Yes, and AUG will not be there.

I think you do not believe correctly.
Most likely an American comment or a political move, because if it were a Russian-built diesel-electric submarine, it would never have been declared the winner over the US AUG.

if it was a diesel-electric submarine of Russian construction

But I wonder how our diesel-electric submarine would have got into this area of the world ocean?
Our diesels, unfortunately, are more diving than really underwater ones.

Diesel-electric submarines are built not in order to get to any point of the world ocean, but to defend their shores.

The diesel-electric submarine has an advantage over the nuclear submarine in stealth, since it is smaller in size and operates from a battery, while a nuclear reactor with pumps and other equipment always operates in a nuclear submarine.

The fact that the US AUG is vulnerable to diesel-electric submarines has been known for a long time, from the time of exercises with Sweden and its diesel-electric submarines of the Gotland type. They even leased this boat to work out tactics against such diesel-electric submarines, but I don't think they succeeded.

successfully performed two simulated attacks on strike teams, working in conjunction with helicopter squadrons

I support. Can't imagine a helicopter as a target designator for a submarine, have the air defense been turned off on the AUG? It's not fair.

You, too, do not have anything to prevent you from being a wide-profile specialist, as far as I remember you are the flagship navigator of a bomber regiment or, all the same, a submariner?

A missile regiment, and also an anti-submarine.

Here it is worth remembering what happened during the last Gotland. Even the British wiki regards this skirmish as a victory for the Russian fleet (not forgetting about myself, beloved): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Åland_Islands

And yes, do you know that although South Korea remains anally occupied by the United States, it would not mind paying a return visit of Asian politeness to Japan together with the Chinese?

The Japanese are occupied up to the tonsils, and this is their only defense against the visit of Asian courtesy from China and both Koreas.
Japanese prowess is still well remembered there.
Vietnam doesn't mind either. Agent Orange still haunts him.

well, cannons and MLRS are easy and our naval base is being shot in the north and east of the Baltic. Apparently that's why we don't build diesel engines with VNEU, Onyx, Iskander? And stupid Koreans build

Poor understanding of the realities of the two Koreas. Yes, the northern one is significantly inferior technologically, but if the war resumes, it will simply endure Seoul in the first two hours under zero. And South Koreans understand this too.

And by the way, Koreans still consider their country as a whole one.

Well, about VNEU, the answer is sad - we can't.
And why does the diesel Iskander need it?
As an option, the Varshavyanka can issue a couple of Calibers along the coast, but their main task is still anti-ship and anti-submarine.
By the way, but they definitely can't Onyx?

Well filmed, not that ours show only the launch, but you can decide for yourself whether the rocket has hit or not.

The Koreans also have a picture of the rocket itself.

while the South Korean diesels are firing ballistic missiles

The video was beautifully filmed, from diving and underwater launch to turning on the engine and moving along a ballistic trajectory, to hitting a training target.

A very interesting comment from the DPRK Institute of Defense Science on kcna.kp is about the South Korean ballistic missile with an underwater launch.
