India completed tests of anti-tank missile for 135 thousand dollars

Indian sources report the completion of tests of the Nag Helina anti-tank guided missile. The peculiarity of this ATGM is that it can be used from an aircraft carrier - first of all, we are talking about attack helicopters.

ATGM Nag Helina has been repeatedly tested precisely from the Indian Air Force attack helicopter. The success of the tests was confirmed by the director of the project for the creation of such a rocket, Sachin Sood. He represents the Defense Research and Development Laboratory in Hyderabad, part of the DRDO.

In India, special emphasis is placed on the fact that the Nag Helina anti-tank guided missile is a completely Indian development.

Sachin Sud:

ATGM and carrier are completely ready. They have passed the full range of tests. Now we need to implement a human-machine interface program that allows us to use this even more efficiently. weapon.

At the initial stage, it is planned to purchase 500 such missiles and 40 launchers for the Indian armed forces. All of these launchers are planned to be placed on helicopters.

It is reported that one such rocket will cost about 10 million rupees for the Indian budget (the rupee is currently at its exchange rate approximately equal to the ruble).

Experts point out that 135 thousand dollars for such ammunition is a very impressive amount. However, the manufacturer claims that the effectiveness of hitting a target with such a missile is high - the probability of hitting a target in the form of a "tank" from a height of about 1 km and from a distance of up to 3,5 km is 90%. It is stated that such indicators were identified during 3 stages of testing. And therefore the price is justified. Moreover, with the expansion of production, it (price) will decrease.

The Nag Helina ATGM itself can be used at a distance of 500 m to 7 km. Earlier, during tests in India, there were problems with the accuracy of hitting a target at minimum distances. Now, according to the laboratory where the development was carried out, these problems have been solved.

Developer:

If, with a 90% probability, a missile for 10 million rupees can destroy an enemy tank, which costs 40-50 times more, then even the economic feasibility of the project is obvious.

The main carrier of such an ATGM should be the LCH, a light helicopter of the Indian Air Force, which, as Sachin Sud notes, "will soon enter service."

Another member of the 3rd generation ATGM club. The missile certainly does not stand out in the class, but the very fact of the domestic development of missiles of this type is extremely important for India. Combined infrared and active radar seeker for 43 kg missile. a big step forward.

Here you can recall the promising "Hermes" or even "Whirlwind-M".
But yes, it is important for Indians to develop their own military-industrial complex.

I wonder how much a T-62 type tank, made according to modern technologies, will cost? Can you meet $ 130000?

It depends on who is selling and in what condition.

Modern technologies are at least sighting and observation systems, and they are expensive nowadays.

3,5 km from the target is a minus helicopter for India. = _ =

I was also immediately inspired by thoughts about military air defense:
... They are capable of destroying enemy air attack weapons in the entire range of heights:

        extremely small - up to 200 m,

        small - from 200 to 1000 m,

        medium - from 1000 to 4000 m,

        large - from 4000 to 12000 m ...

Yes, here any sweaty undetected infantryman, even with Needle or Stinger, has every chance of success.

Almost twice as expensive as Helfire rockets.
So there must be a system - fired and forgotten :)) and this should be done in a state of complete alcoholic intoxication. :))

Otherwise, the price cannot be reimbursed in any way.

So far, no country has reached the perfection of helfire.

An American Apache helicopter can simultaneously fire 5-7 missiles at several targets and, moreover, the missiles themselves go to priority targets.

For the Indians, things are not easy. At all. Is always. What they declare about their technologies, as a rule, should be divided by 10, well, as a rule .. Maybe in this particular case it's the other way around? I remember how they praised their tanks. And still, our people are buying. And how did they write ?! .. and how did they build the neural network?

"Do in India" is no longer just a slogan.
      They really do.
So far, it is crooked and very expensive, and most likely from imported components. But the trouble is the beginning. With experience, everything will come.

      Too Rich India?
Or they could buy missiles of the same Vikhr system from Russia.
At a price ten times cheaper.
