The final version of the modernized Challenger 3 tank was shown in Britain

89

The Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) consortium showed the final version of the main combat tank British Army Challenger 3. The equipment was demonstrated at the DSEI-2021 arms fair in London.

According to the Defense Blog on its Twitter page, the final version of the tank is shown at the exhibition, and it will be in this configuration that it will be supplied to the British army. However, no details about this modification are given.

As previously reported, the British Ministry of Defense decided to reduce the tank fleet from 227 units to 148. In this case, all remaining tanks will be upgraded to the Challenger 3 level - a version capable of participating in network-centric warfare. The modernization of combat vehicles will be carried out at the Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) plant located in Telford, Shropshire.

As previously reported, as part of the modernization, only the hull will be left from the tanks, which will be reinforced in the frontal projection. The tank will receive a new turret with "new generation modular armor" of British design, a 120-mm Rheinmetall Rh 120 L55A1 smoothbore tank gun and a remotely controlled machine-gun module. The Israeli Trophy MV active protection complex will be installed on the tank.

The upgraded tank will receive new fire control systems, surveillance and communications, digital electric drives. Standard Perkins 1200 hp diesel engine. it is supposed to be replaced by a German MTU of 1500 hp. The suspension of the tank is "hydropneumatic third generation".

I'm sorry, I didn't notice, but the essence is the same. 148 in an offensive or defense against our troops in the event of an armed conflict is better than 227 units. Is it clear now?

They increase the fleet. But in general, it is worth considering the tank fleet of NATO countries together. Now they are modernizing their tank fleet. And in total, this is not so little. Even without the USA. So if on the knee, then 25-26 in Poland there will be 250 Leo and 250 Abrams, in Germany 290 Leo, in France 350 Leclerc and 150 Challenger in Britain. Taking into account the tank fleet of small European countries, there will be two hundred more modern vehicles.

A very dubious statement. As history shows, the Anglo-Saxons only promise protection and assistance for vassal relations (Israel would not know;)) when it is in their interests. And the death of citizens in a foreign land is not in their interests. The maximum help is the transfer of equipment on credit.

"for the British do not have air defense to cover tank regiments and brigades." ///
        ---
And the Americans don't either. belay

Their air defenses are clouds of aircraft, and complete air supremacy over ground operations.

Yes you what. Here's a joke. Read how many Americans and British lost their planes in Iraq. Not from the newspaper "Yediot Ahronot")) And also how the Ishil and the Taliban drove "Clouds of planes" in Afghanistan and Syria. And read as "clouds of planes" helped to take Iraqi Mosul)). And even earlier, how the US armada tried to bomb Hamjong in Vietnam and what came of it)) Or tell you about April 12, 1951, when aviation is opposed by normal air defense and fighter aircraft.? All your calculations are based on what the enemy has there is no normal air defense .. So the Americans are used to fighting.

There are always losses. They don't fight without losses.

But in all wars and operations, the Americans sought domination
            in the air.

In all fairness, they are already trying to do something in the category of marching close-range air defense.

What is being modernized is bad, what is left 148 is good!
Is it possible to leave 148 without modernization?

You can do all 48, and even 8. It all depends on how long Europe will shoot itself in the collective knee, buying gas for almost a dollar per thousand cubic meters.

And where to go, before we would have asked for something from them, but now a limited circle of people controls the gas to Russia and they only need money.

We will soon be the only country whose tanks are not equipped with active protection. This is despite the fact that we are one of the few countries that have developed such systems themselves.

They themselves developed, by the way, the first ones, they themselves developed a system against the system, well, what for every time to tie your shoes when you then have to untie them? by the way, the part is equipped

Great Britain turned out to be a good tank, everything you need is there, including KAZ.

Russia on its tanks and armored vehicles probably KAZ will supply the last of all countries in the world, or not at all.

I wonder how quickly, in case of war, the British will be able to expand the production of these tanks and what capacity the production will have ?!

In the mid-80s, I read in the "ZVO" that 240 tanks a year .... I don’t know what capacities are now, but in the XB years the British had 1 "Chiefs", which were also supplied abroad, then specially for export the British made the Vickers tanks, and the Scorpion light tanks for the British army and for export ....
Now the British have 227 Challengers-2 and some part of it was made and impregnated in Oman ...
The British are participating in a competition to develop a light tank for the US Armed Forces and to update their fleet of tracked vehicles (both combat and auxiliary) so that the British armored industry will not die ...
