"Grandfathers" - nationalists
In early July, 20 young Primorye recruits set off for military service in military unit number 33917. The unit is located in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and belongs to the railway troops. Among the recruits was Andrei Smirnov (the name and surname of the Primorye changed).
Last week his wife called us. She said that her husband wrote about the beatings and harassment of the old soldiers, "grandfathers", in part. Moreover, the beatings and bullying are of a pronounced nationalistic character: Dagestan soldiers beat up Nepagestian soldiers. Nepagestan soldiers are afraid to resist. Allegedly, in Komsomolsk-on-Amur the Dagestan criminal group is strong, and it can deal with the offenders of the tribesmen in the most cruel way. In particular, the Dagestani soldiers threatened to kill those colleagues who "would rock the boat."
Primortsev Dagestanis also beaten. Beat off several kidney recruits. The guys were sent to the medical unit. According to the soldiers, the command of the unit does not want to send them to the city polyclinic even with the most severe injuries, after being harassed by the Dagestanis, fearing that the media and human rights activists find out about the mess in the territory of the unit. Andrei Smirnov spent three days in the medical unit, and as soon as he finished, according to the local doctors, internal bleeding, he was again sent to march on the parade. Officers do not try to intervene in ethnic conflict among conscripts.
After another beating of fellow officers, the Primorye decided to give the change. Well beat out Caucasians-Russophobes. After that, the Dagestanis gathered an impressive crowd of their relatives, "grandfathers," and threatened the Primorye people with violence.
Here are some quotes from Andrei Smirnov’s letters to his wife.
“In such a short time we have already managed to seriously understand where the devil brought us! I had heard well about the army and was ready for everything, but I was not ready for such events (about what they say "Dagi"), to be honest. I just want to serve like everyone else: no better and no worse. "
“After the oath I turn from the training section to the company and there, according to the words of the Dagas, I recognize the beauty of army life! Return or not return - do not care. I don’t really want to run away, because I don’t want to go to prison. ”
“It’s disturbing that when I’m a sergeant and command a platoon, Dagestanis will be in it. And the sergeant has such a policy: if you want to live, command only Russians. And it is better not to touch the Dagestanis, because you can not live to “demobilization”. Here are our demobels and silent, although they have the desire to teach them (Dagestanis - approx. RA) no less than ours. But life is more expensive. ”
“And the service in this place, cursed by God and the devil, is even worse and worse! Every rabble is gathered here: convicts, drug addicts, those who have a suspended sentence. And we, 20 Primorye, why drove here - it is not clear. After all, half of them have higher education, they have professions, rights, etc. ”
“Imagine, in part, more than 1000 people, of whom there are only 50 Dagestanis, in each company there are an average of 6 people. And these 50 people hold the whole piece. All the sergeants are afraid of them, but today we, the Primorye, have seen that all the officers are afraid of them. ”
“And we, 20 Primorye, could not stand it and otmudohali bastards for the fact that they, with the entire company, beat three guys. We 20 flew 6-x and cool them chopped up. The officers saw it, they scolded the Dagestanis like a mother’s daughter. And that's all. An hour later, Dagestanis gathered a crowd and we, the Primorye, began to threaten. ”
“Here, all the demobels were fucked up when they saw that we chopped up the Dagestanis. Nobody has done this before us. ”
I called the commander of part number 33917, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kandaurov. He said that, yes, from the side of the Dagestan soldiers, there was an attempt to subordinate the soldiers of the Nagestan, but this attempt was stopped. True, as the lieutenant colonel noted, it took intervention of local FSB organs. Chekists pacified Dagestanis. And now the situation is normal.
However, the Primorye soldiers say that there is no improvement in the unit.
Conflicts in military units on a national basis in the Russian army are becoming commonplace. As a rule, conflicts are provoked by soldiers called up from the republics of the North Caucasus. Not more than a month ago, fifty Dagestanis tried to impose their own rules in a motorized rifle unit in the city of Aleisk, Altai Territory. Russian soldiers were forced to calm them down with their fists. The command of the Siberian Military District intervened and made scapegoats in the situation of Russian soldiers. Ostensibly, the Russians humiliated the national dignity of a small but proud mountain people.
What is happening in the current Russian army is very similar to the situation in the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) at the beginning of the 90s of the last century. There, one after another, conflicts began on a national-religious basis between Serbs and Croats, Serbs and Muslims, Croats and Muslims. Moreover, conflicts occurred between soldiers and officers. Later, separatist inclinations began in the Yugoslav republics, but the JNA could not stop them - in fact, it collapsed due to its own internal contradictions.
Given the aggravation of armed clashes in the North Caucasus region, including on a national basis, the Russian Army, in which representatives of almost all ethnic groups living in Russia, are called upon, could assume the function of educating young soldiers of a sense of internationalism. However, the realities say the opposite: in the army, national discord is only exacerbated.
I hope the military prosecutor's office will check the information regarding the part number 33917. And "AV", in turn, will follow the development of the situation with coastal soldiers.
