In the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, the exercises of the Su-25SM attack aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which are assigned to the military aviation base "Kant". As part of the training, rocket firing at ground targets took place.

This was reported by the press service of the Central Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.

To deliver strikes, the planes used unguided S-8 missiles. The crews successfully conducted rocket fires, destroying targets imitating enemy targets and installed at the "Edelweiss" training ground, located in the mountainous area of ​​the Issyk-Kul region of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

The training was attended by 10 Su-25SM assault aircraft and 400 servicemen. Among the participants in the maneuvers were the fire brigade, security guards, signalmen, ground personnel, representatives of the technical service and flight directors.

The Kant air base, where the aircraft participating in the training are based, is located in the Chui region of Kyrgyzstan.

The press service noted that the exercise is associated with the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) came to power.

Earlier, from 7 to 9 September, joint exercises of the armed forces of the CSTO member states "Rubezh-2021" were held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
