US Press: Satellite images show possible carrier of Poseidon nuclear torpedoes
The Russian Navy continues to develop ways to deploy its latest strategic weapons - torpedoes equipped with a nuclear warhead.
As reported in the USNI News edition, the armament of the Russian fleet Poseidon, which the Pentagon has qualified as an "autonomous intercontinental torpedo with a nuclear warhead," requires the construction of new bases and infrastructure. The construction of new facilities makes it possible to identify the locations of the deployment of a new combat system.

The keywords are "similar" and "imitation" ...
According to the American author, work at the naval base in Severodvinsk (carefully studied by NATO from space - approx. "VO"), began in 2018 and was almost completed in 2020. “Akademik Aleksandrov” was observed there in July and August. The base has a large building that was recently erected next to a new pier, which, judging by the images, is "directly related to nuclear torpedo testing activities."
As noted, Severodvinsk is closely associated with the Poseidon program. There were ships and specialized submarines that participated in the early tests of new weapons.
- Listed in USNI News.
A fleet of new carrier submarines will move the Poseidon to the deployment point. The first of these, K-329 Belgorod, is currently based directly across the river from the new berth. The submarine is undergoing sea trials and is preparing to calibrate the sonar. A second submarine for Poseidon, Khabarovsk, is being built nearby. Ultimately, it is expected that four submarines will be built for it and in the coming years they will begin to go out on operational patrols.
- the conclusion is made in the US press.
The ability to observe from US satellites for the introduction of new weapons into the Russian Federation gives reason to say that Russia is acting quite openly in this regard and is not going to hide the capabilities of its latest weapons from anyone. Although the term used in the US press about possible imitation may raise other issues as well.
