Indian-made missile adapted to Su-30MKI fighter

In India, the Indian-made Astra missile was adapted to the Su-30MKI fighter. Recently, a delegation from the defense industry of this South Asian country presented the latest weapon at the Army-2021 forum held in Russia.

About this news agency TASS said the head of the press service of the Defense Research and Development Organization of India (DRDO) Narendra Kumar Aria.



The new missile belongs to the air-to-air class.

The DRDO spokesman praised the defense cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow, calling it "positive and fruitful." As an example, he named the joint development of specialists from the two countries - the BrahMos rocket.

- said Aria.

At the forum DRDO showed a new radar and new missiles NAG and HELINA, designed to combat armored vehicles.

Astra is the first aviation a rocket designed and manufactured in India. It refers to long-range weapons. Its range exceeds 100 kilometers.

Russian-made Su-30MKI fighters are in service with the Indian Air Force. They are currently equipped with BrahMos missiles.
