"We need to focus on Afghanistan": Biden's meeting with Zelensky postponed
Confirmed information about the postponement of the meeting of the President of the United States with his Ukrainian counterpart. It should be noted that this is the second postponement in the last 2 months. Initially, the meeting was scheduled for August 30, but the American administration said that in connection with the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, it is necessary to postpone the event to August 31. Now - new terms.
Washington said that due to the "intensive work of President Biden on the Afghan issue", the meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky on August 31 will not take place. It was decided to postpone it for another day - to September 1.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on "to react more calmly" to the next postponement, saying that "the situation is absolutely protocol." So, in Zelensky's office they said that the new date is due to the fact that August 31 is the last day of the US evacuation operation in Afghanistan. According to the adviser to the head of the presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, "the American side, for obvious reasons, needs to focus on Afghanistan on August 31."
Apparently, according to Zelensky's representatives, as soon as September 1 comes, the "focus" of American attention will immediately switch to Ukraine ...
At Zelensky's office:
Someone is seriously interested in the opinion of the Ukrainian side in Washington on the date of the meeting.
Let us remind you that earlier militants of the Taliban terrorist group (* banned in the Russian Federation) stated that “if American troops do not leave Afghanistan on August 31, this will be regarded as an extension of the occupation of the country”. At the same time, the leaders of the Taliban * promised the Americans "to take serious measures."
