Conflicting Afghan reports: from "Masud's pledges to make peace with the Taliban" to statements about the loss of Khinjan by militants
Conflicting information comes from Afghanistan. Some time ago, one of the leaders of the Taliban terrorist group (banned in the Russian Federation) Khalil Haqqani said that Ahmad Massoud “promised to make peace” with the Taliban *. Reports indicate that the Taliban will now take full control of the Pandesher Valley without any fighting. Recall that Panjshir is the last large territory in Afghanistan that is not under the control of the Taliban.
The announcement comes amid reports that the Taliban are preparing an offensive on Salang, which is currently controlled by the Afghan military, which is commanded by Massoud Jr.
Meanwhile, the information resource Panjshir Times reports that the "Panjshir army" (now that is how Afghan formations under the command of Ahmad Masud are often called in Afghanistan) is ready for further resistance.
Haqqani's statement is called "disinformation" in order to "sow distrust in the Afghans, who have not resigned themselves to the seizure of power in the country by the Taliban." It is added that just a few hours ago the Taliban lost the Khinjan region - north-west of Kabul.
All these statements are in many ways reminiscent of the manifestation of the information war. At the same time, the important question is: are the Western countries ready to support the representatives of the Afghan army in Panjshir, as they ask? At the moment, the military personnel of NATO countries continue to control the Kabul airport, where over the past few days there has been an evacuation, which in the United States itself is described by reporters as chaotic and ill-considered.
Haqqani's speech about the alleged agreement between Massoud and the Taliban:
well done. Time to bury the rifles and work together for a better future of Afghanistan for the sake of all 39 million afghans.
