Russian Helicopters holding continued work on the creation of the Ka-52K Katran helicopter
Russian Helicopters continue work on the creation of the Ka-52K helicopter for the Russian Navy, a contract with the Ministry of Defense has been signed. This was announced by the general director of the holding, Andrei Boginsky.
The Russian military department and "Russian Helicopters" signed a contract to continue the development work on the creation of a "sea" version of the Ka-52K helicopter. At the moment, work is underway to unify the marine version with the land one. The creation of the new helicopter should be completed by 2023.
- leads RIA News words of the head of the holding.
As a reminder, four prototypes of Ka-52K helicopters were built within the framework of the R&D project on this topic. The ship version of the Ka-52K was made with a folding column of blades, the blades fold back along the helicopter body, which will help to place it in ship hangars, limited in area.
In August 2019, Boginsky said that the ground part of the tests of four prototypes of the Ka-52K Katran was completed and negotiations were underway with the Ministry of Defense to conclude a contract for the continuation of R&D on this topic, but the work was hampered by the lack of carriers of these helicopters. Initially, the deck version of the Ka-52K was designed for the French Mistral-class amphibious assault carriers, but now their carriers are the Project 23900 universal amphibious assault ships being built in Kerch.
Earlier it was reported that the delivery of the Ka-52K was included in the armament program until 2027.
