CSR "Zvezdochka" prepared a floating transport dock for the transportation of the first Soviet nuclear submarine "Leninsky Komsomol"
The Sviyaga transport dock, owned by the GUGI, has been prepared for the transportation of the first Soviet nuclear submarine K-3 Leninsky Komsomol to Kronstadt. The work was carried out at the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. This was reported by the press service of the USC.
The ships of the TsSR "Zvezdochka" prepared a dock for the installation of the nuclear submarine "Leninsky Komsomol". It is emphasized that the preparation of the dock for receiving the K-3 was carried out in a three-shift mode, seven days a week. On July 31, 2021, Sviyaga began the transition from Severodvinsk to Snezhnogorsk to the Nerpa shipyard, where the submarine is being prepared for transportation. It is planned that the transition from the Zvezdochka shipyard to the Nerpa shipyard Sviyage will take about 4 days.
The first Soviet nuclear submarine will be installed at the Nerpa shipyard in the transport dock, after which it will go to St. Petersburg via the White Sea-Baltic Canal. The complete transition to Kronstadt is planned to be completed in 10-14 days, while the administration of the channel has already announced that Sviyaga will be skipped without a queue.
As previously reported, the Leninsky Komsomol nuclear submarine will be delivered to Kronstadt, where it will be converted into a museum with the restoration of the internal space, after which it will be opened for tourists. The submarine is planned to be installed on metal supports under a glass cover.
K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" - the first Soviet and the third nuclear submarine in the world, the lead ship of Project 627 "Kit". Launched on August 9, 1957. She entered service on July 1, 1958, on March 12, 1959, she became part of the 206th separate submarine brigade based at Severodvinsk. From the Northern fleet withdrawn in 1991.
