US approves sale of CH-53K King Stallion heavy transport helicopters to Israel

38

The United States has approved the delivery of Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy transport helicopters to Israel. A corresponding notification to the US Congress was sent by the US Department of Defense Agency for military cooperation (Defense Security Cooperation Agency - DSCA).

On July 30, the US Congress received notification of the planned delivery of 18 CH-53K King Stallion heavy helicopters to Israel. The sale will take place under the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program of intergovernmental foreign military sales. The deal will total $ 3,4 billion, including training and technical support packages. Delivery times have not yet been determined.

The fact that the Israeli Defense Ministry has finally decided on a new transport helicopter, which will replace the aging CH-53 Yas'ur, was reported in February this year. According to the publication of the military department on Twitter, heavy American transport helicopters CH-53K King Stallion will be adopted. Another contender was the Boeing CH-47 Chinook "flying carriage".

CH-53K King Stallion is a heavy transport helicopter with a maximum take-off weight of about 40 tons. The machine can carry over 12 tons of cargo on an external sling, and its cargo hold can accommodate up to 55 passengers. The crew of the helicopter is from two to five people - in addition to the two pilots, it can include three shooters that provide all-round protection.

The maximum flight range of the CH-53K is 840 km, the speed is 315 km / h. The helicopter is equipped with active and passive protection systems - in particular, the armored hull protects the crew and passengers from small-arms fire weapons, and active protection systems can protect the machine from damage by missiles.

The US approved Israel's application. Ordinary news.
I'm sure Israel chose the cheapest option from the best. Since its experts can be trusted, the CH-53K King Stallion can be safely called one of the best modern heavy transport helicopters in the United States.

Have you seen an expert without a gesheft, but a Jew?
Israel chose the cheapest option from the best. Because his experts can be trusted
] in the case of an Israeli expert, the probability of detecting such is multiplied, and it is initially much less than one in both cases. laughing

The most expensive option. $ 180 million overboard. Chinook is three times cheaper, not to mention the Mi-26

          Oh how.
So we are already talking about kickbacks.
The United States is spinning complicated financial schemes with Israel, giving money for free, but on the condition that it will be spent on something specific.

giving money for free, but on condition

This is normal, they give money, but they buy only American goods with it. It is written above that there were only 2 options, Sikorsky and Boeing. Only it seemed to me that King Stalion was worth around $ 120 million, such a figure slipped through. Maybe the rest is really simulators, spare engines and what kind of weapons, plus electronic warfare.

Good "cheap" stallion. Four helicopters cost equal to one helicopter made of gold. A good car to fly from north to south and south to north in Israel. It's good that we have MI 26, no need to buy.

Well, I think that the Israelites, unlike the Ukrainians, really choose a model of technology for themselves. And they don't take what they give. Plus, for sure, specialists from the Tsakhal firms will shaman these turntables under their own theater of operations, so they have all the good buzz with it.

This is at the expense of $ 3 billion of gratuitous military aid from the United States. So the choice was from 2 helicopters.

It is equal to our Mi-26 only in speed, in g / c it is almost half as much, in terms of people it is also 2 times inferior. Far from ice.

Likewise, Israel is not Russia in terms of area, plus the Tsakhal soldier in regiments does not air only specialists, and I think their opinion was taken into account. But we need shelves and preferably quickly from point to point, because there are more and more people willing to come to our land and the territories are huge.

The price includes a simulator, spare parts, 6 spare engines. Before the purchase, there were requirements and a test for the stability of work in a sandy zone, as well as the supply of machine guns GAU-21 caliber .50, the number is not known

It's clear. True, I don't read Hebrew, especially from right to left.)
But I looked at the pictures, really.
I was surprised by the "capacity: up to 55 people"! The bus is resting.)
I remember how crazy the real size of the Mi17-1V was, when I saw it in front of me for the first time and climbed into it. I was shocked to put it mildly, froze for 30 seconds, looked with an open mouth, I thought maybe it was a special for us in Azerbaijan. version of what is supplied, so much larger.
So far, I can't even imagine the size of this American helicopter.

This is not a naked helicopter, but a fully equipped one. Radars, special communications, anti-jamming geolocation, electronic warfare protection against radar, laser protection against IR seeker, countermeasures, suspension systems for weapons, interface and guidance systems, modular replacement installations, repair and maintenance equipment for each vehicle (diagnostic systems), a set of spare parts, etc. and so on, "full stuffing" as they say. 70% of the cost is onboard systems.

I agree, I think so too. Although on the other hand - this machine is commensurate with the Boeing-737, which costs (new) 120 million dollars.
And on a civilian liner there are no expensive military systems.
Or, for example, a 20-year-old Mi-26 killed in the trash (but on the move) costs 10 million dollars (in announcements), and if there is a new one with the same set of buns? I don't think it will be much cheaper than CH-53K.

Although our Mi-25 is forty meters) And it costs XNUMX million. But ours is not a military one, just a helicopter !? Well, in terms of, I can't even imagine what you can stuff into it, into an American helicopter for such fabulous money! Don't blame me) What if suddenly I ask stupid questions)

This is not how it works, the State Department gives an upper limit for purchases within the framework of the permit, choose what and for what amount will be in the final contract. By not official. reportedly in Israel, the price of one car is 83.5 million dollars. Have a nice week ...

In total, Israel has planned $ 2 billion for this contract, which has notified the United States with the intention to purchase at least 18 vehicles. This means, apart from 1.5 billion for 18 units. (18x83.5) will pick up another half a billion from the list of the State Department. Additional, or instead of American, Israeli equipment is included in the draft of Israel's military budget, apparently a lot, but shekels for the "national economy" of the military-industrial complex. "Approved", it is clear where they will go, the order is this ... The Germans on the forum demand to immediately join Israel's contract in one stream - it will be cheaper, and not to bother the old woman before the elections (they want 36 cars)
