The Pentagon will spend $ 2,4 billion to prepare for the cyber-wars of the future
The US Army yesterday signed a long-term contract with 14 IT companies at once for the provision of services in the interests of the National Cybersecurity Center. The aforementioned firms, which include giants such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing, will compete for orders from the Pentagon.
The agreement provides for the allocation of $ 2,4 billion for a period until 2031. It is reported that the command of the US Armed Forces has already received 29 applications from participants in a long-term contract.
Under the agreement, the companies will provide support to the US Cyber Command, ensure the security of military facilities from network threats, manage information technology, and participate in the modernization of the National Cyber Range. The latter is a DARPA project, which is a kind of testing ground in the information space, where the US military can test new technologies designed to protect against hacker attacks and cyber terrorism.
It is worth noting that the United States has taken seriously the preparation for the cyber wars of the future. Just yesterday, President Joe Biden signed a memorandum on national security and improving the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure control systems. The latter provides for the possibility of cooperation between the authorities and private companies in this area.
In addition, the American leader previously stated that if a full-fledged war breaks out between two major powers in the modern world, it will most likely become the result of a cyberattack.
