Crimeans "explained" the position of the IOC on the prohibition of Internet broadcasts of the Olympics on the peninsula
Residents of Crimea wondered why there are problems associated with the broadcast of the Olympic Games from Tokyo to the peninsula. The questions were addressed primarily to the leadership of Channel One. We are talking about the problems with Internet broadcasts that Russian channels receive from the direct official broadcaster, directly connected with the International Olympic Committee.
Konstantin Ernst, CEO of Channel One, commented on the situation. According to him, problems with broadcasts arise due to the fact that the IOC is responsible for blocking special broadcasts from the 2020 Olympics (2021) in "certain territories." In particular, Olympic Broadcasting Services geo-blocks special broadcasts on the Internet for the Crimean Peninsula.
At the same time, it was noted that Russian channels have the opportunity to broadcast the Games from Tokyo to the entire territory of Russia, including Crimea, in a television (not Internet) format, as well as in the form of so-called on-air broadcasts on their websites.
Thus, on the part of the copyright holder on the broadcast of the situation reaches the point of absurdity. Crimeans are trying to restrict access to sports competitions, which were originally conceived under the slogan "Oh sport, you are the world!" and were called to unite peoples and continents. Also, the IOC is actually violating its own "updated" Olympic motto, which recently sounds like this: "Faster, higher, stronger - together!" It turns out that not together ...
