In Afghanistan, fighting continues between the National Defense and Security Forces (ANSOB) and the Taliban * (terrorist movement is prohibited in Russia). As stated in the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan, over the past XNUMX hours the Taliban have suffered heavy losses.
According to data published by the Afghan Ministry of Defense on Twitter, over the past 187 hours, government forces have managed to destroy 112 Taliban militants and take two more prisoners. There, the ratio of killed militants / security forces is reported as 4 to XNUMX, and two more security officials were injured.
The Afghan military department claims that after July 20 they managed to turn the tide in their favor and stop the Taliban's advance. Over the past day, battles were fought in fifteen provinces, in the Balkh province they managed to recapture the Kaldar district on the border with Uzbekistan. It is noted that in this area there is a strategically important bridge connecting the two countries.
The Taliban *, who also announced their victories on Twitter, are not lagging behind the government forces. As a spokesman for the movement Zabiullah Mujahid wrote, the Taliban managed to shoot down an Afghan Air Force helicopter. According to him, it happened in the province of Helmand. In addition, it is announced about the capture of one of the provincial districts.
The Afghan Defense Ministry confirms the loss of the helicopter, but emphasizes that it has nothing to do with the Taliban. According to reports, the helicopter made an emergency landing for technical reasons during an operation against militants and was destroyed after the crew was evacuated. Earlier it was reported that in this area, the Afghan Air Force used MD-530F helicopters.
