American colonel commented on the reports on the shelling of the US military base in Syria
A few hours ago, information appeared in the Middle Eastern media that an American base in Syria was fired upon. In particular, information of this kind was published by the Al Arabiya TV channel. Thus, it was argued that the target of the shelling was a US military facility in the province of Deir ez-Zor. This is a base in the area of the large oil and gas field El Omar.
From the summary:
The situation was commented on by Colonel Wayne Marotto, the spokesman for the command of the American military contingent in the Syrian Arab Republic.
On his Twitter microblog, Marotto made an entry with the following content:
In turn, they commented on the statement of Marotto himself, noting whether this means that the American colonel refutes all the information about the shelling or only that the base was shelled precisely "today" (yesterday - July 4 - at the time of the first publications).
It should be noted that earlier Wayne Marotto confirmed the fact of shelling a military base near El Omar on June 28. Then, according to him, there were no casualties.
Recall that in fact, the main task of the US military presence in Syria is to control the illegal production of Syrian hydrocarbons. Earlier, it was repeatedly published data that with the assistance of the American military, oil was illegally extracted and exported from the country. In part, these funds are used to finance detachments controlled by the Americans, including some Kurdish formations. The Americans are not going to transfer oil production under the control of the legitimate government of the SAR, which indicates their interest in this kind of control on their part.
