Iran plans to conduct large-scale exercises in September-October with the participation of all means of air defense of the army and the "Guardians of the Islamic Revolution" Corps
Iran will hold next month on the Muslim calendar (September 22 - October 21) major maneuvers of the air defense forces with the participation of the army units and the Corps of Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). This was announced today by the Iranian English-language television channel Press TV.
"During the exercises, all the air defense systems of the Iranian army and the IRGC will be deployed," the brigade general Farzad Ismaili, commander of the air defense systems of the Khatam al-Anbiya base, said in this connection. The purpose of the exercise is to train personnel for action in a crisis situation, he added.
Iran in late August announced the introduction of a radar system capable of tracking the movements of American unmanned aerial vehicles in the region. "Our country has special radars that can locate drones United States, - said the commander of the northeastern air defense district of the Islamic Republic, Abdullah Reshadi. “If necessary, they will be destroyed by air defense systems.”
4 December last year, local sources reported that the Iranian air defense forces shot down an American RQ-170 "Sentinel" type UAV, which violated the airspace of the republic from the east. Later, information appeared that the drone was not shot down, and Iranian services intercepted its control, after which they forced them to land in the desert of Tabas in the south-east of the country, about 250 km from the border with Afghanistan.
In early July, the IRGC held a three-day military exercise, Payambara Azam Haft (Great Prophet - 7), during which missiles of long, medium and short range were launched. According to the Aerospace Corps Command, Iran has missiles with a range of up to 2000 km.
