A mobile radar station capable of monitoring up to 200 miles of the economic zone was developed in Russia. According to Mikhail Skolotnev, NPK NIIDAR designer, a foreign state has already become interested in the novelty.
Russian specialists from NIIDAR have created a relocatable radar station "Laguna" capable of tracking up to 200 different surface objects within 200 miles of the economic zone. The station is capable of detecting in automatic mode and continuously accompanying ships and vessels within its coverage area. She will be able to accurately track their location and movement parameters.
The station has already become interested in one of the states of Southeast Asia, which has access to the Pacific and Indian oceans. The country's authorities intend to use the Russian radar station to combat drug smuggling. NIIDAR did not name a potential buyer, but earlier several island states of this region showed great interest in this radar.

The development of a new radar became known at the beginning of last year. Then it was reported about the development of the station "Laguna-M", capable of controlling a 200-mile economic zone. The radar is capable of operating around the clock and continuously in any weather conditions. The sector of the system is 120 degrees. The operation of the radar at short wavelengths makes it possible to observe objects not only in the line of sight, but also far beyond the horizon. The station has a lightweight design, which allows it to quickly relocate to a new location.
