T-72 tanks caught fire during transportation in Poland
It became known about the incident with military equipment on the territory of Poland. It is reported that during transportation two tank T-72 of the Polish Armed Forces.
The tanks were transported along the A6 highway on car platforms. At one point, two car platforms collided, resulting in a fire. Eyewitnesses reported hearing several explosions. At first, it was assumed that we could talk about the explosions of ammunition in tanks. However, then reports came that there was no ammunition on board the T-72 of the Polish armed forces. The wheels of the cars on which the tanks were at that moment exploded from overheating.
They could not cope with the fire for about an hour. However, later, the fire was extinguished with the help of several fire brigades (it is reported that there were five of them).
As a result of the fire, the tanks were seriously damaged. They burned out almost completely. Now the question of how much their restoration can cost is being decided. At the same time, it is known that the automobile platforms on which the armored vehicles were located cannot be restored.
A special commission has been set up in the Polish Ministry of Defense to establish the exact reasons for what happened. While the priority version is the version associated with the "carelessness of one of the drivers", which caused the collision of cars.
According to some reports, T-72 tanks were returned to units after modernization work. Among other things, they received modern sights, navigation systems and digital communications. Works of this kind in Poland are carried out at the facilities of BUMAR-ŁABĘDY. The total cost of modernizing the fleet of T-72 tanks of the Polish Armed Forces is estimated at more than half a billion US dollars.
