Russian and US ambassadors return to their jobs
It became known that the Russian ambassador Anatoly Antonov is returning to Washington. The return will take place today (June 20). The corresponding agreements were reached during the meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States in Geneva. It was noted that Anatoly Antonov will resume his work in the US capital on Monday 21 June.
Against this background, it became known that the American ambassador was also returning to his place of work. Recall that John Sullivan left Moscow a few months ago after he was "advised to go to Washington for consultations." In fact, then the expulsion of the American diplomatic representative took place, although the Foreign Ministry did not use such a wording. Also, the wording “recall of the ambassador” was not used in relation to Anatoly Antonov, although this is exactly what happened.
The exact date of Sullivan's return has not yet been announced. This will probably happen at the beginning of the coming week.
Now the country's diplomatic relations are actually restoring, as agreed in Switzerland by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.
Against this background, the United States is expressing disapproval of Biden, claiming that the US President "showed softness." Particular criticism comes to Biden from the representatives of the Republican Party. At the same time, the US president has not particularly reacted to this criticism.
