MDKVP "Evgeny Kocheshkov" will be shown at the maritime salon in St. Petersburg
Small amphibious assault ship on an air cushion (MDKVP) "Evgeny Kocheshkov" Baltic fleet will be shown at the international naval show in St. Petersburg, which will be held from 23 to 27 June. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
According to the report, the ship has already arrived in St. Petersburg, and the crew is currently preparing the materiel for display. In addition to the Yevgeny Kocheshkov MDKVP, about 10 ships, vessels and boats of various classes will take part in the MBMC-2021.
Recall that at the beginning of the 1990s, the Soviet Navy had eight Zubr DKVP, but after the collapse of the country, most of them went to Ukraine. Currently, the Russian Navy has two project 12322 MDKVPs - "Mordovia" and "Evgeny Kocheshkov", which are part of the Baltic Fleet.
In 2018, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that the state armaments program until 2027 provides for the construction of air-cushion landing ships of projects 12322 Zubr and 12061 Murena at the Khabarovsk shipyard. There is currently no information available on this topic.
The Zubr-class project 12322 hovercraft has a length of 57 meters and a width of 20 meters. The displacement is 535 tons, the draft is only 2 meters. It is equipped with high-temperature gas turbine engines that provide the ship with an air cushion thanks to four 2,5-meter propellers, and three more propellers with a variable angle of attack and 5,5-meter diameters are driving it. The ship is capable of speeds of 70 knots or 130 km / h.
The Zubr can land troops on 78% of the world's shores without any preparation, although amphibious assault ships with opening nose ramps do so only on 14% of the coastlines. The ship is capable of delivering three tank weighing up to 150 tons or 10 armored personnel carriers with marines. In addition to transporting troops, the ship can carry out the installation of minefields and provide fire support to the troops.
