Qualification tests of a new torpedo homing system have passed in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Tekhmash concern.
As the text of the message says, which leads TASS, the new equipment significantly increases the target detection range and the accuracy of its destruction. At the same time, it can be installed on torpedoes of different calibers, differing in smaller dimensions and lower power consumption from existing analogues. Another advantage of the new torpedo homing system is the lower cost. Other details of the development, as well as further prospects for the new system are not given.
(...) can be used to complete torpedoes of various calibers intended for work on underwater and surface targets (...) today this development surpasses the existing domestic and foreign counterparts in its main parameters
- said the executive director of the Tekhmash concern, Alexander Kochkin, adding that during the qualification tests, the electronic equipment for torpedo homing systems confirmed their characteristics.
The homing equipment was developed by specialists from the Novosibirsk Scientific Research Institute of Electronic Devices, a leading enterprise for the creation and production of near-range systems in the range of electromagnetic waves from decimeter to optical, as well as on-board computers and automation for military equipment.
