Borisov named the number of Su-57s planned for transfer to the Ministry of Defense by the end of this year
The Russian Aerospace Forces will receive four fifth-generation Su-57 serial fighters this year, not two, as previously reported. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.
Borisov, who oversees the military direction in the government, visited Komsomolsky-on-Amur on Wednesday aviation plant named after Y.A. Gagarin (KnAAZ) in order to get acquainted with the course of production. As a result of the visit, he said that as part of the contract for the Su-57, the Ministry of Defense will receive four serial fighters by the end of the year.
At the same time, there is no specifics, the Deputy Prime Minister simply stated the fact without any explanations.
Earlier it was reported that only two Su-57 would arrive by the end of the year. At the same time, the media referred to an unnamed source in the military-industrial complex. According to the source, two Su-57s were to go to Akhtubinsk at the disposal of GLITs (State Flight Test Center).
To date, the Aerospace Forces received only one serial Su-57, which was handed over to the military at the end of 2020. According to the plans of the Ministry of Defense, by the end of 2024, the Aerospace Forces should receive 22 fifth-generation Su-57 fighters, and by the end of 2027 their number should increase to 76.
Meanwhile, it became known that the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant (KnAAz) is expanding production in connection with the implementation of contracts of the Ministry of Defense. As stated at the enterprise, in the near future it is planned to attract about 500 people of various specialties to production, who are trained in secondary specialized educational institutions and universities of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Khabarovsk.
