Development of an export version of the Su-57 fighter is planned

42

The Russian Defense Ministry and the Sukhoi Design Bureau are planning to develop an export version of the latest Russian Su-57 fighter. It is assumed that the new aircraft will be two-seater.

According to the news agency RIA News, this statement was made to journalists by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov during his visit to the Far East.

The official believes that the appearance of the new modification will increase interest in the fighter among foreign consumers, as well as expand the number of potential buyers.

There is interest in this machine, and, in my opinion, it will grow from year to year, as our Russian army becomes saturated with this model.

- said Borisov.

In his opinion, abroad, before ordering an aircraft, they want to first observe its operation in the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Recently, the head of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, announced that five countries of Southeast Asia were interested in the Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57 (Su-57E). This aircraft is capable of striking targets in the air, on the ground and on the water surface. Stealth technologies were used in its creation. The aircraft is equipped with the most modern armament located inside the fuselage.

The first flight of the Su-57 fighter took place more than 10 years ago - in 2010. Last year, 5th generation aircraft began to enter service with the Russian Aerospace Forces.

        Yes Yes...
There will definitely be something. Once upon a time. Somewhere. May be...
In the meantime, we can only be proud of our inherent modesty, Russians.
The credibility of the facts presented by the author admires: "Last year, 5th generation aircraft began to enter service with the Russian Aerospace Forces." At the same time, the number of aircraft already put into service is prudently not announced for some reason.
But seriously, for a start, maybe it is worth equipping at least one of your own squadrons with 57s? And only then make plans for the bulk? However, just with the plans on paper, we are always all right.

it is planned to develop an export version of the newest Russian Su-57 fighter. It is assumed that the new aircraft will be two-seater.

We also need a two-seater version, it will be easier for young pilots to master this aircraft.

It had to be done in two versions at once - single and double. It is clear that two-seater modifications are very actively used and there is a demand for them. Look at the same Su-30 (different letters here).

This means the second option: in the Russian Federation they could not make a full-fledged "electronic co-pilot" for some missions and decided to introduce a co-pilot.

Not really. Just over time, the requirement for control from UAVs and less advanced aircraft was added (guidance, target designation as the MiG-31). I think the modernized, two-seater Su-57 will replace the MiG-31, and not some vague development of the PAK DP. Here, the external suspension will come in handy - stealth is not needed over the Arctic, - penguins are not found there ...

... Under the terms of the agreement, the Indian company was to develop an on-board computer, a navigation system, information displays in the cockpit and a self-defense system. The rest of the work in the joint project was to be undertaken by the Russian company Sukhoi [68].

At the end of April 2018, India withdrew from the FGFA joint project with Russia. The Indian military felt that the Russian fighter being created did not meet the stated requirements for secrecy. The Indian side also believes that the combat avionics, radars and sensors of the Russian development do not meet the standards of the fifth generation combat aircraft [72] [73].

They have not invested so much - about the price of one Indian Rafal. This is not about the Su-57 itself, but about the transfer of technology. Russia is not ready to go that far, so we parted.

These are just traditional Indian dances. Avionics, radars and sensors on the Su-57 are of the highest level in all respects. A powerful radar with an AFAR based on gallium arsenide, additional AFAR radars in the slats, an optoelectronic locating system, displaying information directly on the pilot's helmet glass, etc.

Hindus wanted to know what their money was spent on,
                  which they translated to Russia.
Consumption according to points and terms, as is customary in joint projects.
They could not clearly explain. And they stopped funding.

They were just told that for 300 million dollars. the transfer of any technology is out of the question. And for the sake of obtaining advanced technologies, the Indians initially harnessed themselves. The Russians agreed only to the division of labor, and even then with abundant Indian funding.

As a result: the Indians have no technology, Russia has no plane (or rather, one copy in a training center).

The delay in the deployment of the series is associated exclusively with the fine-tuning of the second stage engine. Three aircraft with engines of the first stage have already been transferred to the training center. It is for training pilots and ground personnel for the combat operation of a large series. The Indians have nothing to do with the design and production of engines, therefore they could not punish Russia with anything, but they themselves will be punished only with a completely different product price than if they had not left the FGFA project.

The Indians wanted a two-seater heavy fighter and insisted on it. And in the Sukhoi Design Bureau they were already sawing a single one. For a two-seater cockpit, the airframe would have to be radically redesigned. It was difficult to pull two programs at the same time and the design bureau refused. For several years there were bickering, and then the Indians withdrew from the project and out of resentment declared that they were "inconsistent" with the 5th generation due to stealth.
And now in the Russian Federation they have reached that a two-seater is needed - both for controlling drones and for greater convenience in strike missions ... But it was necessary to initially design a glider for two cockpits - like the MiG-35, and everything would be fine.
And, by the way, the Indians were not completely refused a double room, but they offered to make this version for their money. Well, and it would take more time than previously planned.
The Hindus decided to "slam the door". The Americans also encouraged them to do this.
But the Indians were denied the F-35. And not just in admission to technology.
Now elbows are biting on the Ganges, for the conflict in the Himalayas demanded not only light tanks for the mountains, but also aircraft to confront the J-20.

The problem is that all these versions of the exit from the program of the Indians - and described by you, and above - they are at the level of assumptions. More or less reliably, we can only say that they were dissatisfied with the stealth, in any case they declared it. Was this a reason or an excuse?
We can say for sure that since that time they have not experienced any interest in resuming the program.

It was neither a reason nor an excuse - it was an excuse for exiting the program.
They only needed a two-seater plane, they insisted on it. The bickering lasted for several years, they wrote about it, there were official statements from both the Indian side and representatives of the KB.
                        Multiple.
And there were delays in the development of even the single T-50. The project was not easy.
And the Indians realized that they had to wait for their double until the carrot's plot ...
                        And we left the project.

It would be more efficient to direct these funds not to the development of an export option, which will not have sufficient demand, but to PRODUCTION for our Air Force.
There will be no demand for a simple reason - China has its own, India has gone to the United States and the West, some Algeria will acquire units that will not recoup all the costs of development and testing. In short, the situation is not right now to talk about the export of the Su-57 ...
