Unusual small arms: PP-90 submachine gun

If we talk about unusual options for small arms weapons, then, without a doubt, such options include the PP-90 submachine gun. If an uninitiated person first looks at this weapon in a folded version, it is unlikely that he will have an idea that this "metal box" can be a weapon. At the same time, a couple of movements - and the "metal box" turns ... the "metal box" turns ... into the same PP-90 submachine gun unfolded.

PP-90 has two firing options - single and automatic. The switch of the types of shooting is located on the left, it also puts the small arms on the fuse.

It is worth noting that the PP-90 is one of the first variants of small arms, which was created after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The main customer was the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At the same time, the PP-90 has a foreign prototype. This is the American ARES FMG, a submachine gun designed for concealed carry. The caliber of the Russian PP-90 is 9x18 mm, the American "Ares" - 9x19 mm. The Russian machine gun is lighter than its American "predecessor" by more than 0,5 kg.

An overview of the unusual PP-90 submachine gun is presented on the Lazarev Tactical channel, where the PP-90 is called a transforming weapon:

The picture, unfortunately, is not the FN P90, but the Magpul FMG-9. Based on Glock18.

You are absolutely right, Stanislav. hi
I copied the wrong signature, and did not stupidly double-check it. How many times have I told myself - be careful. smile drinks

Here's another interesting thing in the network came across. This, so generally a novelty, only went on sale in March. Uses magazines from the FN P90 (and, accordingly, the FN 5.7 × 28mm cartridge).

Found it, but it is positioned here as a self-loading pistol P50 KelTec.

Here is Ares. It was under his influence that the PP-90 was created.

In the picture in your comment M21.

"With a slight movement of the hand, trousers turn ... trousers turn ... trousers turn ... into elegant shorts"!
To start shooting a weapon, you first need to unfold it, insert a magazine, cock the bolt, raise sights, which are not very rigidly fixed, which affects the effectiveness of fire from a weapon.
The reliability of the PP automation is low - when the weapon is folded and unfolded in different directions, the backlash of the parts is inevitable, which means you wait. Problems.
For "some" persons, it is convenient - not every traffic policeman will realize when examining that this is a military weapon.
In general, the first pancake. And the PP-91 "Kedr" is a completely different matter.

      - as far as I remember, the PP-90 is officially in service with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, somewhere from the 90s +

Both are good. PP - 90 first acquaintance with pistols - machine guns. Cedar is generally a song, of course. They beat accurately, heap, practically without recoil. Very unusual. As if you were leading with a laser beam :) And yet, yes, here some comrades think that there are no operational units in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and concealed wearing is not necessary. Oh well.

PP-90 folds together with the store, the parts involved in the production of the shot are in one block, therefore folding-unfolding does not greatly affect the operation of the mechanisms.

I read an article about this PP-90 20 years ago. The author, talking about "spreading, distorting, aiming", directly stated that this PP is not for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but for terrorists. For hidden carry somewhere.

    - I had a chance to "make a mess" of this in the late 90s ... In joint patrols with the police. The workmanship is so-so ... The hinges loosened instantly.

I had a chance to deal with such a job for more than one year. I don’t know, maybe you were from some defective party, but ours didn’t loose anything for 20 years.

        - That copy was decently broken up ... It was worn by sergeant PPSnik, and they, it seems, were intended for specialists.

I had to hold an interesting THING in my hands, and it also comes with a case, you wouldn't even think, looking from the side, that it had a weapon.

The PP-90 has only one firing mode - automatic.

    Here are some more samples.

In my opinion Magpul FMG-9 is the best of all.
