Lithuania does not rule out the purchase of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drones

Lithuania may follow Ukraine and Poland to buy Turkish drums Drones Bayraktar TB2, the government is considering such a possibility.

Lithuania does not exclude the purchase of Turkish drones following the example of Ukraine and Poland, but a final decision on this issue has not yet been made. The meeting between Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Brussels on the eve of the NATO summit added fuel to the fire.

According to the Lithuanian media, Nauseda confirmed that one of the topics of the conversation with Erdogan was the purchase of Turkish weapons, including drones. However, according to the Lithuanian president, he was not ready for the Turkish proposal, so he agreed to postpone the discussion and hand it over to specialists.

The fact that Lithuania is showing interest in the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 became known immediately after the signing of a contract for the supply of similar drones Poland. However, the matter did not go further than rumors.

As you know, Warsaw ordered four complexes, which include 24 Bayraktar TB2 drone drone. In addition, the contract provides for the training of Polish operators, the supply of ammunition and spare parts, which were purchased for 3 years of operation in accordance with the estimated average flying time of one drone.

But the reasons for Poland's urgent acquisition of Turkish drones were classified and not subject to disclosure.

It doesn't matter. The main thing is that the entire chain of producers is fed. According to the website of import-export declarations ImportGenius, drone manufacturer Baykar Makina imports components, in addition to Canada and the United States, from six more countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Israel, China and France. At the same time, the USA is the largest supplier. And what's so surprising? laughing

Maybe yes. Economically, it is less costly for such a small country in terms of area and population - I launched a dozen such UAVs along the border perimeter and you follow the border from the air instead of border guards.

For Lithuania, you don't even need a dozen. To the border with Kaliningrad 1-2, to the border with Belarus 2-3, at sea 1-2. Total 4-7 pieces.
Radars are installed on Bayraktars, this increases the range of work.
A very useful thing, actually. Control the border, search for the missing, monitor fires and natural disasters, view the sea area.
Many services need this class of UAVs.

Generally speaking, these are shock drones and use them exclusively as scouts - isn't it easier to buy something cheaper for this?
And as percussion, they can only be used with complete air supremacy, otherwise they will not even take off.
So it seems that these are the same show-offs as those of the Latinos in the late 19th - early 20th centuries with battleships ...

Turks + Azeris carried out an excellent advertising campaign for byteractors. Another plus to the fact that the best advertisement for weapons is participation in at least some kind of hostilities.

It is cheaper to lose a drone, and there is no loss of the crew; a new drone can be lifted into the air quickly, and it is much easier to fly a UAV than an aircraft / helicopter.
It is much more difficult to detect and shoot down a UAV, and he knows how to find a target no worse than, for example, a helicopter.
I would venture to suggest that by buying drones, the Poles and Lithuanians want to solve the problem of their own air force.

FPV model aircraftsmen have aircraft and copters controlled at 2,4GHz, surveillance and telemetry at 5,8GHz. If the controls are muted, or at least just turn off the remote control, the model will return to the point via GPS. If you turn off the GPS as well, then FailSafe will work, and the plane and the copter will smoothly land on whom God sends. Bayraktar is the same aircraft model, only a large one.

Microwave, jamming is not a problem, roughly speaking, in the field of visibility, radio waves propagate at such frequencies. But this dog will return home on an inertial machine. Here, more likely, a directed EMP pulse is needed not a hindrance, but an impulse, pumping 1.5 kilowatts into a directional antenna a kilometer away, the microwave electronics will definitely get sick.

My friend glued the plane all winter in the spring in the first flight, crashed it laughing and so every year laughing then the batteries will run out, then the gasoline will run out.

To date, a lot has been done against UAVs, but UAVs have not seriously encountered them yet. In case of serious turmoil, the consumption of UAVs will be large. And ours, with this in mind, should have a good supply of them. Otherwise, they will be quickly knocked out and nothing will work. And think carefully about their protection.

Maybe "they did a lot against UAVs" and most likely "UAVs have not seriously encountered them yet" ... But so far, UAVs have shown their high efficiency: in Libya, Karabakh, etc.
