Kanonenjagdpanzer: inside a German tank destroyer

6
In the late 1950s, the development of a new tank destroyer to support the infantry began in Germany. The request was for a 90 mm gun, so German engineers resumed work, which they stopped with the end of World War II. The gun was placed in a ball mount of a closed conning tower, but the resulting vehicle was not tested. They decided to continue the work and this time a new chassis was required. Immediately 2 concerns presented their prototypes, but in the end, the Hanomag machine, called the Kanonenjagdpanzer, entered the series.

The overall design is fairly standard - a welded alloy steel body with a rear-mounted propulsion system. 50mm frontal armor is angled. It is able to defend against automatic cannons, but is useless against fire. tank and anti-tank guns.

There are special plugs on the right and left side of the gun mantlet: one covers the gunner's main observation device, and the other covers the hole for the coaxial machine gun. An active IR illuminator is also installed above the gun itself.

The undercarriage is represented by ten twin rollers (5 on both sides) on a torsion bar suspension. Each roller has a balancer with a baffle in the form of a coil spring and a hydraulic shock absorber (except for the central ones). Tracks with two-finger tracks have one connector strip on each side. In addition, you can see rubber pads on them, which, if necessary, can be easily replaced with metal lugs.

Smoke grenade launchers are located on top of the engine compartment. In the back of the car, you can see a storage box for an IR illuminator, a towing bracket, a place for tools, canisters, spare tracks and even a telephone for communication with the crew.

Toy advertising (and advertising in general) has no place here. Advertising in the furnace, down with the author.

this is your browser problem. I have no ads. I use the Opera. And do not confuse just an advertisement and an alleged article. Where they just shake the air. If you don't believe me, I can throw off the screenshots for you.
