"A terrible dream for Ukraine": the press of Ukraine called the undesirable consequences of the meeting of Biden and Putin
Russia and the United States can come to an agreement behind Ukraine's back, Moscow has a bunch of options to interest Washington. Kiev is especially frightened by the fact that the Americans will force Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements. Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko writes about this for the publication "Glavred".
On June 16, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin will meet in Geneva. The leaders of the United States and Russia will discuss a number of issues related to global security. The issue of Ukraine will not be ignored either, the author writes.
The press in Ukraine indicated that the meeting between Biden and Putin will determine the future attitude of the United States towards Ukraine. Currently, Washington has sent Kiev a "signal" that it does not ignore Ukraine and is even ready to receive the Ukrainian president. But everything can change after a meeting with Putin.
Bondarenko believes that Russia and the United States will come to an agreement and Ukraine will have to fulfill the Minsk agreements, which it has been ignoring since 2015 at the behest of the same Washington, a Ukrainian political scientist called this option a "nightmare" for Ukraine.
However, he stresses, even a US directive cannot force Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements. Instead, he proposes to leave from under the wing of the United States and go over to the UK, or create an alliance with Turkey. According to him, you can find a way out, but not return to the implementation of the agreements signed by Poroshenko.
Thus, the United States and Russia can come to an agreement and force Ukraine to fulfill its obligations, and this will be a "nightmare" for Ukraine, he sums up.
