US supplies the Kosovo army with a batch of M-1117 ASV 4x4 armored vehicles

The US continues to arm the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo. According to the Kosovo Defense Ministry, the Americans have supplied a batch of M-1117 ASV 4x4 armored vehicles.

According to the report, the armored vehicles were transferred last week, but this was reported only now. Kosovo Defense Minister Armen Mehaj examined the supplied armored personnel carriers and got acquainted with their capabilities at the Skenderbeu military base.

At the same time, Pristina does not disclose information on the quantity and timing of the delivery of armored vehicles, apparently by order of Washington. The only thing that is reliably known is that the equipment was donated free of charge and this is not the last delivery. This was stated by the Kosovo Defense Minister personally. And as local media write, the party included at least five M-1117 ASV armored vehicles.

The supply of armored personnel carriers by the Americans to the security forces of the self-proclaimed Kosovo became known back in April this year, when the US Embassy in Pristina announced the training by American instructors of the Kosovo Armed Forces in the use of armored vehicles.

Meanwhile, according to the Albanian news agency Telegrafi, the Kosovo army intends to purchase additional weapons from the United States as part of the American program for military sales abroad. $ 5,3 million has been allocated for the implementation of three new projects.

The M1117 Armored Security Vehicle is a 4x4 light armored vehicle. It was adopted by the United States in 1999. Armament - 40 mm Mk. 19, 12,7 mm M2HB machine gun and 249 mm M5,56 machine gun. It is declared as a multipurpose vehicle that solves a wide range of tasks depending on the situation.
