The deadline for the completion of tests of "Zircon" from a surface carrier has been announced
Tests of the Zircon hypersonic missile from a surface launch vehicle are scheduled to be completed by the end of this summer; the lead frigate of Project 22350, Admiral Gorshkov, will participate in the tests.
The Ministry of Defense plans to complete part of the Zircon tests by the end of the summer, with regard to launches from a surface carrier. Then the tests will continue on board the submarine, taking into account the fact that state tests should be completed by the end of 2021.
According to RIA News, which cite a source in the shipbuilding field, several launches will be carried out at land and sea targets, including a simultaneous salvo of two missiles at two different targets.
Thus, judging by the source, the tests of the Zircon from the surface and underwater carriers will take place sequentially, and not in parallel. Earlier, another source in the defense industry said that in order to speed up the missile tests, it was decided to conduct parallel launches from the board of the Admiral Gorshkov and the nuclear submarine Severodvinsk.
However, this is the decision of the developers and the military, how exactly to carry out the tests, the result is important, and it will undoubtedly be. Moreover, in all cases, the end of the test is called the end of this year with the adoption of the "Zircon" in service in 2022.
As already reported, the frigates of Project 22350 and the Yasen-M multipurpose submarines will be the first carriers of the hypersonic missile.
