US State Department denies negotiating with Germany on Nord Stream 2

The US State Department denies that it is negotiating with Germany to conclude an additional unofficial agreement to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2. This is reported by the Axios portal with reference to unnamed sources.

According to the portal, the absence of any negotiations was stated by the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Molly Montgomery during a joint briefing with representatives of the Congress. According to her, Washington is not holding any talks with Berlin on an additional deal with regard to Nord Stream 2.

(...) the word "exchange" should not be understood as negotiating. The administration of US President Joe Biden told Germany about its concern over the construction of the gas pipeline as part of diplomatic talks

- declared in the State Department.

At the same time, Ulrike Demmer, deputy official representative of the Federal Republic of Germany Cabinet of Ministers, said that the German government is in constant contact with the Joe Biden administration on the construction of the gas pipeline. Often the parties "exchange views," she added.

Earlier, German political scientist Alexander Rahr spoke about a compromise option that Germany had prepared for the completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2, which suits all parties. According to Rahr, Berlin will support the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, while advocating the early completion of the gas pipeline to diversify fuel supplies. In addition, Berlin is ready to buy more liquefied gas from the United States.

US State Department denies negotiating with Germany on Nord Stream 2
It’s clear. If during the negotiations the United States makes concessions to the FRG, then what will they think in

The Germans will suffer heavy losses if the construction of the SP-2 stops. Material and moral. So they get out as best they can.

Under any pretexts, it is necessary to complete the construction of SP2, and then, under any pretext, stop transit through Ukraine.

I agree. And then they stuck to the pipe, and do not tear off. The Balts turned off the tap, and the non-brothers for all their Russophobic policies are long overdue. Let them buy liquefied from their Americans at exorbitant prices.

In general, I would have acted differently with them, I would have said that everything is fine, modernize your pipe, we will continue to pump, let us put our money and investors, and then say that we have enough pipes, fill as you want, you can also American and Qatari gas let them go there.

The Balts still seem to be bursting with our gas, although they frown, but the Poles have been shut down for three days already, leaving their refineries without Russian oil. Yes

Well, the idol in power at least honestly shows that the interests of US corporations in the world, it will lag behind to the last euro cent. The Yankees spat on the Europans' wishlist, they need to control the whole world, and the pipelines running through a bunch of countries are a convenient means of blackmailing "energy dependence" on Russia, for example. Therefore, they will be pushing the Germans to disrupt the completion of the pipe.

It is foolish to try to stop a robber by persuasion. The bandit only understands the language he uses. laughing

What is the point for us to “bathe” NOW about the problems of Europe’s “selfhood” if the “SP-2” pipe is designed for at least 40 years of operation? Well, he will lie at the bottom of the sea for a couple of years, at most, without work. So what? Let's look with interest at the energetic splendor of Europe in the context of “global warming” like the past (and earlier, from 2016-17) winter against the background of the strategic development of its total “knotting” by revolutionary wind-solar innovative energy with a bio-smell.

What do we care about the frost on their baseboards? laughing

The Fritzes will be held by the hands, and there will be pussies and bandits, and Fashington will be flogged. This is the kind of political BDSM that SP2 will end with. laughing

If mattresses officially at the level of the State Department deny negotiation, then they try to quietly and continuously. Yes

tryndyat - this the Germans called the exchange of views - "We regularly exchange views with our partners, in this case with the United States and others" - the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany Ulrike Demmer. What kind of negotiations ... the parties simply exchanged views on issues of interest to them ... type in a search engine "the parties exchanged views" and whoever is not engaged in this ...

So casually. The last frost in Texas damaged the oil and gas industry for $ 70 billion. And Texas is to blame for not taking preventive measures. The power system could not stand it, it is old as a tree! 60. Promising gas to Europe does not mean delivering it in the required volume and on time.

I think that the usual bargaining is going on now, because both sides understand that the SP-2 will be completed in any case, and the Americans want to rip off money from the Germans for this. The Germans are bargaining because they also understand that they will not be bent to the end, and therefore they want to pay off with little blood. All this fuss will continue until they finally finish laying, so we will still hear about many negotiations and other memorandums, but this will not affect the fate of the project itself.
