First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Tiran Khachatrian was dismissed from his post after criticizing the statement of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the "ineffectiveness" of the Russian Iskander OTRK.
The proposal to dismiss Khachatryan was made by Pashinyan, after which the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian removed the latter from the post of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
Based on the proposal of the Prime Minister to dismiss the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Tiran Khachatryan from his post
- stated in the document published on the website of the head of state.
The day before, Khachatryan called the words of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the Russian Iskander missiles, whose missiles allegedly did not explode after being hit, as "frivolous". According to the Yerevan.Today portal, after a request to comment on the prime minister's statement about the "not fully exploded" missiles of Russian complexes, Khachatryan laughed and replied that this could not have happened.
You can't say that, (...) it is not serious to draw conclusions with superficial assessments
- he said.
Earlier, in an interview with the local portal 1in.am, Pashinyan criticized the Iskander operational-tactical complexes (OTRK) purchased by Armenia from Russia. He stated that the missiles of Russian missile systems "are not suitable for use" and "did not fully explode" during the latest military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, adding that "it could be weapon 80s ".
