In the United States, full-scale tests of the promising F-15QA fighter, intended for the Qatar Air Force, continue. In the foreseeable future, this car will be brought to mass production, as a result of which the Qatari Air Force will become the owners of perhaps the most advanced version of the F-15.

International cooperation

Preliminary agreements on the supply of modernized McDonnell Douglas / Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft were reached in 2016. In November of the same year, the US authorities approved a deal for the supply of 72 aircraft, spare parts and weapons, as well as personnel training. The estimated cost of such an agreement was to exceed $ 21 billion.

The contract for the construction and supply of equipment appeared in June 2017. In accordance with it, in the coming years, the American side was supposed to create and test a special modification of the original F-15, and then establish its production. The document provides for the supply of 36 fighters with a total value of $ 12 billion.

The United States and Qatar have agreed to create a new modification of the fighter called the F-15QA (Qatar Advanced). The basis for this project was the previous modification of the F-15SA for Saudi Arabia. It was proposed to remake it using the latest developments of the Boeing company and taking into account the wishes of the new customer.

During testing

Design work and construction of experimental equipment did not take long. By the beginning of 2020, the first experienced F-15QA was built and launched for testing. The first flight of this machine took place on April 14. To date, the construction of two more fighters has been completed, they are also involved in the tests.

Reportedly, two prototype aircraft are currently being tested at the Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California. Over the next few weeks, it is planned to carry out a number of different tests that are impossible on other sites. In particular, flight performance at low altitudes is checked, systems for work on ground targets are tested, etc.

During the current tests, the total flight time of the three experienced F-15QA has already exceeded 100 hours. The aircraft have to go through several more stages of verification, after which they will be handed over to the customer. It is expected that the Qatar Air Force will receive this equipment as early as next year. Then a full-scale series will be launched, which will ensure the fulfillment of the existing contract within several years.

Ways of modernization

The F-15QA project envisages updating the design and instrumentation of the basic F-15E / SA, taking into account the wishes of the customer and the latest achievements of science and technology. Such innovations simplify and reduce the cost of assembly and maintenance, as well as increase the flight, combat and operational qualities of the aircraft.

First of all, the airframe production processes have been redesigned. The nose and wing for the F-15QA are made using Boeing's Full-Size Determinant Assembly (FSDA) technology. Within the framework of FSDA, the number of units supplied for final assembly has been reduced, and the process of joining parts is reduced, accelerated and simplified. In addition, some modifications have been made to the design of the units, which increase their resource.

Developing the F-15SA project, the Qatar Air Force fighter receives a similar digital fly-by-wire control system in all channels. It is built on the basis of two computers, each of which has two control loops. Provides a fourfold redundancy of wiring to the actuators. This EDSU architecture provides high flight performance combined with a dramatic increase in reliability.

The F-15QA receives an updated sighting and navigation system based on the Raytheon AN / APG-82 (v) 1 airborne radar with an active phased antenna array. The data processing before being issued to the pilot and navigator-operator is carried out by the ADCP II computer (Advanced Display Core Processor II). The Operational Flight Program operating system is used in the latest “production” version of Suite 8.

The fighter is equipped with a double "glass cockpit". The main means of displaying all the necessary information is a large-format liquid crystal touch screen. On the sides of it are smaller screens. The old windshield indicator has been replaced by a new smaller profile HRCCP (HUD Radio Communications Control Panel) with an integrated radio control panel. Pilots can still use American-made helmet-mounted target designation systems.

Due to the preservation of the main components of the airframe and the power plant, the performance characteristics of the new F-15QA remain at the level of the basic F-15E / SA fighter. The complex of weapons remains the same. Qatar Air Force fighters will be able to use all missiles and bombs compatible with the F-15E.

Another modification

In the recent past, the F-15QA fighter was called the latest and most advanced version of the F-15E. Now this honorary title has passed to the next development. A new aircraft for the US Air Force is being created on the basis of the Qatari fighter. Previously, the F-15X single-seat aircraft project was proposed, but the customer chose the F-15EX two-seat modification, more similar to the F-15QA.

In terms of airframe design and general equipment features, the F-15EX is minimally different from the F-15QA. At the same time, the computing complex will receive the software of the next version of OFP Suite 9, and the survivability will be increased due to the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS). The ammunition is planned to introduce promising hypersonic air-to-ground missiles and other weapon new types.

On July 13, 2020, the Pentagon officially ordered the first batch of eight F-15EX fighters, costing approx. $ 1,9 billion. By that time, the first aircraft was already being assembled at the Boeing plant in St. Louis. Q2021 FY2023 the first two aircraft must be handed over to the Air Force for testing. The remaining fighters will be handed over only in XNUMX.

In total, the US Air Force wants to buy 144 F-15EX aircraft by 2030. Approx. 22,9 billion dollars. Annually they will order and pay for the construction of 12 vehicles.

Externally, the F-15EX and F-15QA differ only slightly. Boeing graphics

The appearance of an order for the F-15EX is directly related to the state of the air fleet of the Air Force and the National Guard, as well as to the characteristic problems of recent times. Cash F-15C / D are running out of resources and need to be replaced. The number of modern F-22s, initially considered as replacements for the F-15, turned out to be insufficient, and the production of new F-35s does not cover all the needs of the Pentagon. In this regard, a "temporary measure" was adopted in the form of another project for the modernization of the F-15E - with the production of completely new vehicles.

Family perspectives

The development of the F-15 family of fighters continues and produces interesting new results. On the basis of a very successful platform, new modifications are being developed with increased combat and operational characteristics. At the same time, the next versions of the fighter are created not only for the main customer, the US Air Force, but also for friendly foreign countries.

Several factors underlie the F-15's success. First of all, it is necessary to note the high potential of the F-15E aircraft as a platform for further renewal and improvement. Initially, it had good characteristics, and the replacement of certain components ensures further development with obtaining high results. In addition, the problems of newer projects in the form of rising costs and declining production rates became an important factor.

The Saudi, Qatar and US Air Forces have already ordered more than 230 F-15SA / QA / EX fighters. In the foreseeable future, full-scale production will begin, and by the end of the decade, all this equipment will be delivered to parts. Thus, the claimed technical perfection of the new aircraft is gradually turning into commercial success. However, it is too early to talk about the achievement of all the set goals.

But the F-35A that crashed in the US in the spring was estimated at 270 million by the Pentagon. So the "relevance" of these prices is like fair elections in the United States. There, at one site in Michigan, the turnout was under 800%. Here are the prices from there. They have already described how they are formed - a primary contract is concluded, for 70 lam per unit, then a couple of dozen additional ones, and instead of 70, 270 comes out even on the domestic market, why for the USA they buy F-15 for 150 million / unit - this is the internal price

The latter lasted from December 2018 to October 2019, the result - on average, 11% of cars were bogotous, mattresses, British, Dutch took part. As a result, the state acceptance failed. as a result, instead of batch orders (FR1-1 ... 1-4), "pre-batch production" LRIP12..14 continues. )

The results of the state acceptance at Edwards airbase:

according to reports from the testers of the Joint Office, the average level of full combat readiness of fighters participating in official tests is 11%, and in June - only 8,7% (in the graphs in green). In total, 23 F-35 fighters participate in the acceptance test program at Edwards airbase (the test conditions have already been violated there - some of the aircraft did not correspond to the latest version with updated software). Among the reasons for the low combat readiness is the lack of spare parts and malfunctions of the "distributed" search system - often the radar and electronic warfare systems fail (they catch glitches in the form of false missile launches), the helmet (400 thousand evergreens) give the pilot a picture with interference ... According to the plan proposed by DOT & E of the Pentagon , the level of combat readiness of the fighters participating in the tests should not be lower than 80% (this level of combat readiness Mattis demanded by September for all air forces). It's funny that the level of combat readiness of conventional combatant F-35 is still higher - as much as 23%.

The first f-35s in production cost more than 200 million, no one hides this, it is emphasized everywhere that as the production progresses, the price decreases.
And you are trying to compare the aircraft of the old issue with the aircraft of the latest batches. Of course, it used to be more expensive, it is getting cheaper with each batch, there someone brought a plate above.
As for the "real" price, you need to justify where the numbers are from and what is included, not empty pictures.
The contract price can exceed the price of the aircraft several times, this is the most common practice for aviation, and without decoding these numbers, data on the "cost" is an empty phrase.

Firstly, the f-35 will not be sold to just anyone.
Secondly, do not confuse export prices with producer prices.
Plus, you take into account ammunition, spare parts and accessories, training of pilots and those personnel (and possibly maintenance of American technicians), possibly simulators, infrastructure goodies and other related equipment.
Foreign military sales program, the Pentagon buys from the manufacturer and resells to others at 1.5-2 times more expensive.

    Great plane
The F-35 is not a replacement for the F-15, it is a replacement for the F-16.
The Americans did not rush to full-scale production of the f-22 to replace the f-15.
We made a small batch, since at that time the enemy for the f-22 was not even outlined, and now, thanks to the high modernization potential, the f-15 will stretch until a new aircraft appears, which is now being developed, which will replace the f-15 and f-22 as release.
The super Hornet remains unnoticed for now, let's see what will be replaced, perhaps the same new aircraft.

Well, the United States is at the conclusion of F15 and it is necessary to replace them with something. F35 is already more than 100. And 200 F22. And simple ones with modernization by the F15 and F15E shaft. I am silent about F16.

The last 3 Su-35s of the second contract have just handed over, a total of 98 production vehicles, one seems to have been rigidly planted, since it was handed over as a full-scale stand, plus 3 flight prototypes, one of which immediately became non-flying due to a breakdown of 100 % cars. The remaining 2 sides, 901 and 902, have not glowed for a long time, 902 was last lit when the aiming container was tested on it, but, in general, they should already be badly worn out.

The third contract, apparently, 3 aircraft until 30, and then, it seems, the release of capacity for the Su-2024.

About the same. What the hell, thousands, if the contract for the F-15EX includes 144 vehicles until 2030. Even if the production of the Su-35 is limited to 3 contracts for the Russian Air Force for 48, 50 and 30 aircraft, as well as exports to China (24 units) and Egypt (apparently, 30 units), this gives 182 copies.

      No wonder
This is not the price of an airplane, but a delivery kit
Fighters are usually purchased with spare parts, long-term armament, spare engines, training for pilots and personnel, often with prepaid service and much more.
The contract price can be several times higher than the cost of the aircraft
It's just that the Americans do not need it, they have it according to other articles.

Do you even know what the Su-30SM is? Apparently not, since something surprises you. And it is like a quick adaptation of the Su-30MKI with the preservation of some of the imported equipment, which made it possible to minimize the test time and put it into production in less than 2 years after the first flight. Work on its unification with the Su-1SM began at the same time, in aviation everything is strict, any replacement must be tested.

Ideally, the newest glider, avionics, radar and turbojet engines of all T-10s are from the Su35. And, theoretically, it needs a two-local version. Su30 is the previous generation, and Su34 is the one before last and specialized.

The Su-34 is a bomber where fighter functions are a bonus. It was created to replace the Su-24 bomber, how did you drag the Su-35 here, the big question. And why spend money and resources on the development of a two-seater 35th, which "you urgently need", when the modernized two-seater 30th will receive the same engines and part of the Brao 35? Everything in this line is logical and correct. With all the desire and imagination, the F-15 will not be able to become a better bomber than the Su-34, because there is no armored cockpit and the pilots do not sit shoulder to shoulder, as bomber pilots have been positioned since the days of the B-17

Here are good fellows Boeing, they are already taking envy. Once every five years, a new modification, everything new has appeared, immediately into action.
And here - the SU-35 has been flying for 15 years and no upgrades are expected.
The SU-30 is generally an old man, they guessed to update the current-current at least to the level of the SU-35, well, at least there will be unification at the same time.
You can nod at the SU-57, they say, here it is, progress. Well, its final version did not appear yesterday either.

And Migi, too, Algeria was put in the maximum upgrade. This is a completely unique logic, where the Su-30 from the nineties is an old man, and the F-15 is the newest aircraft (in service since 1976)
