"These acts are not a crime": a new turn in the case of Czech military supplies to Azerbaijan

29

For the past four years, the Czech National Center for Combating Organized Crime (NCOZ) has been investigating the illegal export of ammunition materials to Azerbaijan.

But now, according to Aktuálně.cz, there is a new unexpected turn in the case of Czech military supplies to Azerbaijan. The prosecutor's office decided not to initiate criminal proceedings against the defendants and to stop prosecuting them.

According to NCOZ investigators, six people are involved in the illegal circulation of military products, including top managers. armory companies of the Czech Republic. Among them was the ex-general director of the state-owned enterprise Explosia Josef Tychy, as well as co-owners of CZ Hermex, Emil Markup and Jiri Vavra.

NCOZ accused them of overstepping the legal framework in fulfilling a contract with the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry to build a smokeless powder plant. At the same time, they had permission only to export technologies exclusively for civil purposes. They concealed from the Czech authorities the military nature of cooperation with Baku.

The publication believes that NCOZ was unable to collect sufficient evidence against the defendants in the case to confirm their guilt in court.

These acts are not a crime

- the plaintiffs' press secretary, Alesh Kimbala, confirmed the information.

Because of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, the UN since 1992 has declared an embargo on the supply of weapons and military materials to Azerbaijan. The EU and OSCE soon joined the ban. And although the UN lifted the embargo in 2001, the OSCE and the EU continued to adhere to it. Thus, according to Czech law, the supply of military products and technologies to Azerbaijan is prohibited. But now, as follows from the situation, the Czech legal system is guided by the principle: "if you can't, but you really want to, then you can."

Or maybe the path has been trodden down, gone, now they will pile up. Some have the loot from oil with a victory, others have the opportunity to seize the moment and get ahead of others.

Who would doubt that! All at once white and fluffy. I wonder what the Czech court would do if Azerbaijan lost?

Nothing ... He wouldn't do anything. Here everything is much more complicated. Azerbaijan is oil and gas, as opposed to Russia ...

    I'm sorry, off topic.
VO readers, for several days now my text has been "jumping", it is almost impossible to read.
And I'm not that kind of specialist in the computer to find the reason.
Question: can someone have the same problem?
Maybe it's all over the site. This is not the case on other sites.

    Thank you.

I am not special either, but if you scroll to the end of the page, there is a column "for the user", there are Contacts or questions and answers. Maybe it's tech support? Try asking there.

Brought to anyone in the Czech Republic the required amount, and that's it, now they are pure like doves of heaven! They would have brought in more, and did not initiate cases at all !!!

The situation is more comic than paradoxical! A disruption in the supply of military materials by other countries, not allies, would be received with hostility, but it would be possible for our own.
The question is simple: was the export law violated or not?

Well, according to the scheme and guided by the logic and precedent law adopted in the west, for example, Poplar M can be brought to Iran and Cuba, and whoever opposes, we give them the decision of the Yushlepin court that it was a burden for the transportation of large and oversized cargo. The case law allows this, since once it has rolled out, then future cases can also be interpreted in this way. MZKT-tractor-tractor, for large loads, yes.

Stop, there was no embargo. There was a recommendation - we recommend not to sell weapons to Azerbaijan and Armenia. A recommendation and an embargo are different things.

Czechs overpay a bit for patronage. Especially greedy people cannot remain silent. Great liberal nation. They lived under the Nazis, the production plans were overfulfilled. Under the Soviets, they lived, ate a little worse than under the Nazis, but peacefully, but not for long. Now under ........... and the Germans. And well fed and peaceful, but expensive. Plastic, flexible people. Knows how to get settled They are just law-abiding (unlike). They were told during the war that "Du kannst kein Partisan sein!" - they did not partisan (unlike).

Law and Order are the basis of a civilized society! laughing
