A presentation of the project of a missile boat "Bogomol" was held in Ukraine
After the signing of a memorandum of intention of Britain to build missile boats for Ukraine, Kiev began to offer various options and projects for construction, including domestic development. As Defense Express writes, the Nikolaev designers have proposed a project of a small missile boat on an air cushion "Praying mantis".
The design bureau said that in the design process they studied the world experience of creating similar ships in Norway, Sweden, the United States and China.
The new project of a small missile boat received the code "Praying mantis" and number 58208. According to the project, the total displacement of the boat will be 145 tons with a length of 33, a width of 12 and a draft of 1,4 meters. A Ukrainian-made 3500 kW gas turbine is proposed as a power plant, which will provide a maximum speed of about 50 knots. The cruising range will be 600 miles at a speed of 37 knots, the crew is 12 people.
As a weapon, it is proposed to install the Ukrainian anti-ship complex PK-360 consisting of two missiles of the R-360 "Neptune" type, one 30-mm gun mount of the AK-306 type, which is available in the Ukrainian Navy, or a 40-mm gun mount Light Forty of the Italian company LEONARDO.
The boat is designed to search for and defeat surface ships, boats and vessels used for military transport of the enemy and conduct tactical reconnaissance, carrying out combat and special duty.
The main areas of combat use of the boat are named "open waters" of the Black Sea-Azov basin, navigable rivers and inland water bodies of Ukraine during the period of active navigation (without freeze-up) in the coastal areas.
