France has decided on a new patrol aircraft for the fleet
The French naval forces will receive the new Falcon 2000 Albatros base patrol aircraft. On November 19, French Defense Minister Florence Parly announced the issue of a contract for the creation and supply of these aircraft.
The contract is for seven new Falcon 2000 Albatros patrol aircraft, which will be based on the large Dassault Falcon 2000 LXS business jets. Deliveries under the agreement are expected to begin in 2025. All in all, the French Navy intends to order 12 Falcon 2000 Albatros aircraft for use as "cheap" patrol aircraft.
In navy Falcon 2000 Albatros will be used exclusively for the control of the economic zone and territorial waters, as well as for use in overseas territories. Because of this, the aircraft will only have equipment for monitoring the surface situation.
The maximum takeoff weight of the Dassault Falcon 2000 LXS business jet is 19414 kg, it is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C turbojet engines. The declared flight range is 7410 km (4000 nautical miles) at a cruising speed of M = 0,8 with a load of six people. In the version of a patrol aircraft, it will be equipped with an under-fuselage radar, an optoelectronic station and four external suspension units with the possibility of using, inter alia, anti-ship missiles. The aircraft will have four operator consoles.
It is noted that 9 of the 12 planned Falcon 2000 Albatros fuselages will be manufactured in India. This is stated in the 2016 contract for the purchase of 36 Dassault Rafale fighters by India.
