Belarus will impose retaliatory sanctions against the leadership of the European Union
Belarus will respond to the sanctions of the European Union and "other countries" by introducing retaliatory measures against the leadership of the European Union. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic, Vladimir Makei.
According to the head of the foreign policy department of Belarus, at a meeting on foreign policy with the participation of President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko, they discussed retaliatory measures to the sanctions imposed by the EU countries against Minsk. In response to the "expansion of restrictive measures", it was decided to introduce retaliatory personal sanctions against "representatives of the leadership of the European Union, the leadership of a number of European states."
In addition, as Makei said, Minsk no longer "sees the point" of continuing the dialogue on human rights with the European Union. It was decided to suspend all negotiations in this area until Europe abandons the current "policy of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank", which froze cooperation programs with Belarus
Recall that last week the European Union approved a new list of sanctions against Belarus. It has already been joined by seven non-EU countries, including Ukraine.
The EU also threatened Minsk that they would no longer transfer "not a single euro" to Belarus, and all the money would be transferred to non-governmental organizations (NPOs) in the republic.
