What will be the Klevok-D2 hypersonic missile system
Launch of a rocket complex "Hermes"

It became known about the beginning of research work to create a promising interspecific missile system with hypersonic ammunition. The project "Klevok-D2" is proposed by the Tula Instrument Design Bureau named after Academician Shipunov and provides for a deep modernization of the existing Hermes complex. Despite the very early stages of work, the main features of the project are already known, which allows us to make the first predictions.

According to known data ...

The first mentions of the Klevok project date back to the nineties. Subsequently, on the basis of the developments of this project, the interspecific missile system "Hermes" was created. In different versions, it can be used on land and aviation platforms. The first demonstration of the ground-based version of Hermes took place just a few months ago, and soon after that a new project, Klevok-D2, was launched.

The wave of publications about the Klevok-D2 complex in the domestic media began a few days ago after a corresponding article appeared in Izvestia. Referring to its sources and documents of the defense industry, the publication described the main features of the current research and development and requirements for the future missile system. Specialists' assessments were also given.

It is curious that by this time some documents on the project were already in the public domain. So, back in September, information on two tenders of the Tula KBP was published on the State Procurement website. The enterprise requested proposals for two studies with the code "Klevok-D2". Requests were accompanied by terms of reference.

"Hermes" in flight, the starting engine is running

Purchase No. 32009541542 stipulates the conduct of an integral part of research work with the code "Klevok-D2-Caliber". The topic is designated as "substantiation of the possibility of creating an interspecific long-range missile through the use of ramjet engines." Purchase No. 32009541559 launches the Klevok-D2-Airplane R&D midrange - “substantiation of the possibility of creating an interspecific long-range missile by optimizing the aerodynamic characteristics of the main stage with a ramjet engine”

Research "Caliber"

SCH NIR "Klevok-D2-Caliber" is carried out to determine the possibility of creating a new version of "Hermes" with a ramjet propulsion system. Having substantiated the possibility of solving such a problem, the contractor must work out the design of the sustainer ramjet engine. This should take into account the different requirements for the rocket and its components.

A missile with a ramjet engine must have a launch mass of no more than 150 kg and fit into a transport and launch container with an inner diameter of 207 mm. The product should consist of a sustainer stage and a 23Ya6 dumped starting engine, having a mass of approx. 67 kg. Payload - warhead length approx. 1,5 m and weighing 56,6 kg.

A possible general view of such a rocket is given in the terms of reference for the MF NIR. In the figure shown, the main stage has a torpedo-shaped body with a combat load and control equipment. In the bow there are rudders that can be folded in flight. The tapered tail section of the product carries a cylindrical casing - probably a ramjet engine. It is connected to a starting engine in a cylindrical housing with tail fins.

Possible appearance of the Klevok-D2 rocket in the launch configuration - graphics from the technical assignment for the R&D Caliber

The ramjet engine for the Klevok-D2 rocket should consist of a gas generator and an afterburner. Its developers will have to determine the optimal design and select the most efficient fuel. The terms of reference stipulate research on the use of polypropylene as fuel. It is necessary to determine the parameters of its gasification and combustion, investigate the possibility of starting self-sustained combustion, and also study the operation of such a ramjet in different modes.

In the terms of reference on the topic "Klevok-D2-Airplane" it is indicated that the ramjet engine must carry a fuel charge weighing 12 kg, sufficient to operate for 42 seconds. By the time the stages are separated and the propulsion engine is launched, the rocket should rise to an altitude of 610-650 m and develop a speed of 971 m / s (approx. 3495 km / h or 2,85 M).

Airplane theme

Within the framework of the second component of the research work with the code "Airplane", aeroballistic design of the sustainer stage with a ramjet engine should be carried out. It is necessary to find the optimal contours of the sustainer stage and the shape of the protruding parts, as well as to determine the rational flight paths to the maximum range.

The glider of the main stage is required to be made metal using serial alloys. Some elements that are bodies of revolution can be made of composites. The necessity of using folding rudders and empennage that fit into the internal dimensions of the TPK has been discussed. In flight, roll stabilization should be provided by aerodynamic rudders. They also provide trajectory hold and target guidance.

Main stage and starter motor separately

In the terms of reference for "Klevok-D2-Airplane" there is a drawing showing the possible appearance of the rocket and the principle of operation of its aerodynamic surfaces. Shown "product" outwardly almost does not differ from the diagrams shown in another document.

Development potential

The task of the research work "Klevok-D2" is to further develop the results of the project "Klevok" / "Hermes" with the use of new technologies - to improve the main tactical and technical characteristics. At the same time, the exact parameters of the complex are still unknown, they will be determined in the course of future research and design work.

However, knowing the characteristics and capabilities of the Hermes complex, one can make predictions about the potential of the future Klevka-D2. According to known data, the two-stage rocket "Hermes" has a length of less than 3,5 m, a launch weight of approx. 125-130 kg and carries a 28-kg warhead. The product develops a maximum speed of 1 km / s (half the average) and flies 100 km. The flight to the target area is carried out using inertial navigation, after which an unnamed type of seeker is activated.

The Klevok-D2 missile with the same dimensions can be 20-25 kg heavier - this weight gain is provided by a new warhead of increased power. Moreover, it will fly faster and further. Already at the time of resetting the starting engine, the rocket speed should exceed 970 m / s, after which the ramjet engine will be activated. It is obvious that the use of such a power plant makes sense at hypersonic cruising speeds of at least 1500-2000 m / s. The launch range should significantly exceed 100 km of "Hermes" - otherwise the project becomes impractical.

From project to troops

The hypothetical hypersonic missile system Klevok-D2 may be of great interest to the Russian army, both independently and in combination with the existing Hermes. Such systems will make it possible to deliver fast and high-precision strikes against various targets at a great depth of defense. The complexes are interspecific, which allows them to be used in the ground forces, in the Air Force and the Navy - in the appropriate configurations with various differences.

The expected appearance of the rocket from the terms of reference for "Klevok-D2-Airplane"

From the point of view of range and accuracy of fire, "Klevok-D2" will be able to surpass all existing samples of cannon and rocket artillery. At the same time, in terms of range, such a product can be compared with some operational-tactical missile systems, although it will lose to them in impact on the target. On the whole, the existing "Hermes" and the "Klevok-D2" under study are of great interest to the army, and we should expect the appearance of purchase contracts.

However, one should not be too optimistic for now. Klevok-D2 is at the earliest stages of research and development. The defense industry has to carry out the necessary research and determine the fundamental possibility of creating a missile system with given characteristics. Upon successful completion of this stage, it is possible to launch the design - if such an order is received from the Ministry of Defense.

It will take several years to carry out all the necessary work, and the overall complexity of the tasks set may lead to an increase in the required time. It is unlikely that the ready-made complex "Klevok-D2" will appear and will be tested earlier than the middle of this decade. Taking into account the further necessary work, it can be assumed that he will get into the army only by the beginning of the thirties. However, the result of this expectation will be the appearance of a fundamentally new weapons with the highest fighting qualities.

laughing Yes hi And don't say. colleague. And don’t say. But the identity of the State Duma is holy. And here is a weapon. Necessary for the defense of the country. Just imagine that this "Klevok-D, what is it there are two" In a package of maybe not forty. Let twenty. With target designation support. and anyone. He will train on the front line. And computers think faster and faster. So they give out target designation faster. And better and more accurately lead to the target. And here in the rear behind the back, along with the areas that they can. Clever here is this and a lot of charges in one And it will fly very quickly. Here is a weapon of the 21st century. Well, why not make it universal? And not connect it to air defense systems at such speeds? close and medium radius of destruction? request In general, study and develop. There is a whole layer for ideas.

ABB makes good, high-quality robots, comparable in performance to KUKA and FANUC, in some ways better, in some ways worse. At a cost about 15-20% more expensive than similar models of the aforementioned companies, but this is not critical, since the robot is only an element of a robotic complex.

Why multiply entities ?! Why multiply the classic Soviet inconsistency and diversity? It is practical to create an analogue of the GMLRS, that is, a guided missile for RZSO (GLONASS / GPS / INC), and in the future add a seeker. In theory, it would be good to have a unified system of missile defense systems (basic and lightweight) with which it is possible to launch missiles of various calibers, including guided ones.

Well, about the Klevok-D2 rocket ... There is a situation like: "Look! Klevok-2 has appeared!" Everyone turns in that direction ... And they see a big muddy spot in the pond! ... Why do I have doubts about the appearance of the alleged device? As you know, the ammunition of both "Hermes" and "Pantsir" is built according to a two-stage bicaliber scheme ... Moreover, the first stages (upper stages, RB), mainly, of a larger diameter ("caliber") than the warhead (marching stage) -170,210 mm. It is this configuration that allows the "product" to provide high characteristics, leaving the potential for further development! Even in the "old" versions of the "Hermes" warheads had a speed of up to 4 M ...! It is in such RB that you can create very effective stages not only with Solid propellant rocket engine, but also with a ramjet engine, and with a liquid propellant engine! (It is also possible that "combining" is possible!) The proposed scheme of a "hypersonic wafer" does not inspire such hopes! ... and the ramjet engine should accelerate to hypersound and bring it to the target! Some kind of bewilderment turns out! But isn't it better to overclock the warhead to hypersonic (near hypersonic ...), and assign the functions additional overclocking and bringing the warhead to the target on hypersound! According to known data, the caliber of the RB "Germe sa "is limited so far by 210 mulimeters ... Well, what prevents the RB from being made with a caliber of 240 mm ... or 300 mm for" Smerch "? "Tornado" shoots hypersonic missiles! Sounds like? I think yes ! (By the way, warheads, in this case, for a "tornado" can be made in different calibers ... up to 300 mm ...) By the way, the modernization of bicaliber missiles is easier! (It is possible, sometimes, to do with replacing the "old" RB with a "new one ...)
I would like to say about the "nuance" which, in my opinion, is lacking in bicaliber missiles (Hermes, Pantsir ...) ... There is not enough DPT (transverse thrust engines ...)! This could be realized, both by equipping the warhead with a block of compact impulse rocket engines or on the basis of detonation-capable rocket fuel! A charge of such fuel could perform the function of an explosive in a warhead, as well as a DPT rocket fuel ...

Excuse me, is the first stage + "scrap" of a ramjet engine even needed in your 300 mm circuit?
What will the DPT belt give you if the Shipunov junior is designing a rocket? He, as you know, "does not shoot with radars." To put the IR GOS? If it is not cooled, then I may not fit in 300 mm. And it will make a lot of noise, even if I fit in. And if it is cooled ... How will I cool it on 6M?
Although the idea is correct ... Over the weekend I will count as a first approximation - I'll post it.

On these issues, I see that you "misunderstood" the meaning of my presentation ... When I mentioned 300 mmm, in this fragment there was a generalization of the capabilities of the bicaliber missile scheme ... In principle, it is possible to implement control of the DPT in radio command guidance or by a proximity sensor (like a proximity fuse ...) DPT (DPU) will increase the capabilities of a "non-motorized" missile to destroy maneuverable (maneuvering) targets.

They differ from the information that was postponed in my memory from the time when I more carefully studied "Hermes"! But, if in order, as far as possible, then what speed the developed Hermes-D2 (5M or 6M ...) will have now is difficult to guess! Maybe 7-8 M ... how it goes! Let's keep in mind that at least 5 M ... As for the "long-known" "Hermes" (including "Peck-A" ...), different data are given here too ... keep in mind that the Hermes missiles are supposed to be equipped with different upper stages ... 170 mm and 210 mm. From this, the range (from 15-18 km to 100 km ...) and speed (1000 m / s and 1300 m / s ... approx. 3M and approx. 4M ...) differ in different variants ... But the "old" the Hermes project did not provide for "hypersound"!

I have a similar question - isn't it time for the Ministry of Defense to make access to the technical specifications of promising weapons available only to authorized users (participants)? Some kind of nonsense turns out - the basic parameters of weapons that have yet to be developed are in the public domain.

So to draw a picture with a ramjet is not a problem, the problem is to make a working ramjet engine and provide control of such a missile with the achievement of a given CEP.
There is no need to suffer from the "watchman's syndrome" and secret everything indiscriminately.

If the TK is 2,85M, then it's not a problem to cut down the pvd. And the thrust can be reset by shooting the first stage. Correction - impulse with DPT or aerodynamic control.
      Sincerely

At Klevk, the first stage is a solid-propellant rocket booster, which fires back after acceleration to a cruising speed of 2,85 M, then the second stage, consisting of a ramjet on polypropylene with an operating time of 42 seconds, is activated.

Thrust zeroing by dropping the ramjet engine can be omitted, since the rocket flies under the control of the inertial system, which takes into account all types of effects on the RS, including changes in engine thrust.

Correction of deviations of the RS from the calculated trajectory - with the help of a controlled head.

The SDU is made in the form of a solid propellant engine and is separated from the assembly already in flight, and therefore can rightfully be considered the first stage of the Klevok-2D missile-reactive complex. Blizzard is carried by the one who does not distinguish SDU from PAD laughing

The accuracy of modern ISN on micromechanics is 10 cm for each second of flight, therefore the presence of IK seeker on board Klevka-2D is mandatory.

PS Since Klevok-2D is R&D, everything is possible in the course of it, up to the use of solid ramjet fuel in the form of polypropylene (like the Norwegians in their RVV designs).

Ryabov Kirill] According to known data, the two-stage rocket "Hermes" has a length of less than 3,5 m, launch weight approx.

Already at the time of resetting the starting engine, the rocket speed should exceed 970 m / s, after which the ramjet engine will be switched on. [/ Quote]

The topic of research and development, in translation into Russian, is to see if it is possible to mold a hypersonic ramjet in a caliber of 207 mm, and here they are already discussing the aerodynamics of the warhead, folding wings, etc. fantasy.

It is obvious that the use of such a power plant makes sense at hypersonic cruising speeds of at least 1500-2000 m / s.

Not at all necessary - 9M38 with a ramjet engine.
    It's not a Scrum Jet.
