"The main advantage of the F-35 is the profit from the service": the Romanian press on the imposition of the US stealth fighter

57

The Americans always give one answer when the customer searches for a replacement for their fighters. No matter what your needs are or what you ask for, the response will always be the same: the F-35. Do you want to replace the F-16MLU fleet? F-35A recommended. Perhaps you would like to find something instead of the old Tornado? The F-35A is the most suitable candidate. Is the F-18 Hornet approaching retirement? The F 35A will help you with the replacement. And so on…

The Romanian edition of Romania Military comes to the conclusion about the one-sidedness of the American proposal with the actual imposition of a stealth fighter:

In some cases, the F-35A may really be the solution, in other situations it seems too expensive, although it is not very clear whether his own capabilities, let's say, "talent", or only his "parents" simply push their brainchild.

In particular, the Swiss voted in a referendum to spend $ 6,5 billion on the purchase of new multipurpose vehicles. At first everything went smoothly, the Americans offered two models - the F-35A and the Super Hornet F / A-18E / F Block III. To clarify the situation, the Swiss requested permission to purchase them if one of the two items was declared the winner.

But the surprise was the Pentagon's preliminary offer: 40 Super Hornets for $ 7,45 billion or 40 F-35A for $ 6,58 billion.

We've all wondered why the Super Hornet is worth a billion more than the F-35A?
- writes the edition.

In the case of Finland, the price difference is even greater: the Super Hornet is $ 2,2 billion more expensive than the F-35 [we are talking about the possible sale of 50 F / A-18E fighters, 8 F / A-18F and 14 EW EA- 18G totaling up to $ 14,7 billion].

The main thing is profit

And it's not just the price, but also the description of the capabilities of the two products. Thus, in a note to Congress, the Pentagon describes the F / A-18 Super Hornet as a good aircraft that will increase the defense capabilities of Switzerland, and also says that the main task of this aircraft will actually perform the functions of an "air police":

The main tasks of the aircraft and associated weapons will be to monitor the airspace over Switzerland and provide national defense capabilities.

Instead, when it comes to the F-35A, the Pentagon "puts on a show" and states:

The proposed sale of the F-35 and associated missiles and ammunition will provide the Swiss government with a robust defense capability to deter aggression in the region.

At the same time, according to the publication, the Pentagon in its report to Congress explains that more American technicians will be required to service the F-35, while in the case of Switzerland acquiring Super Hornet - only six people, and then from time to time.

The advantage is on the F-35A's side as it needs more maintenance from American companies, while the Super Hornet won't pay them as many dividends in the future because it breaks less often.
- points out Romania Military, comparing the current situation with inequality in family life:

The "wonder child" Lockheed Martin [that is, the F-35] seems to have 2-3 mothers, the whole family truly loves him (more than $ 400 billion is the amount the federal government has invested in the program), and Super Hornet was left with only one parent ("Boeing") and be sad for him.

However, as the newspaper notes, the F / A-18 Super Hornet is a healthier product, less capricious than the Lockheed Martin products, and more combat-ready. According to the Pentagon, the Super Hornet is the only vehicle to reach its 75% target. fleet... At the same time, the US Navy was disappointed with the F-35C and ordered the F / A-18E / F Super Hornet Block III and began to refine the future 6th generation F / A-XX aircraft. And the manufacturer will take advantage of the main advantage of the F-35, because he has an excellent opportunity to cash in on the service, receiving additional income, including for updating the software.

Interestingly, the Romanians themselves came to this, or someone suggested one of the obvious goals of making this product.

Hmm, the level that has been achieved in the automotive industry over the past 30 years has been adopted in the aircraft industry. if there are still 30-year-old Mercedes cars with a minimum of 500k mileage and which run with proper care, then I cannot imagine a 30-year-old S class 222 with 500k mileage will fall apart

So their concept has changed: the main thing now is to consume a lot and often. That is why there is so much of all kinds of "consumption" both on the roads and in the sky.

... all camp in the USA needs to work ..

It is necessary to expropriate the gold of the barons (you can leave the fixes) - for a couple of 35's should be enough. And to promise the Baron a funeral together with the fighter (as now they are buried with Mercedes). There is always a way out!

It's just that Romanians are really not afraid of anyone, in peacetime they don't need these capricious, cunning and greedy penguins ...

Plus, these penguins only work and fly when they participate in a war in favor of the United States. wink If the goals of the war do not correspond to the plans of the aircraft owner (here "the owner" in the truest sense), then the display may suddenly appear something like this: "due to violation of the aircraft software license agreement, its work has been temporarily stopped. Contact the developer." belay

And at the same time, the US government will make surprised eyes and say that "you and Lockheed signed an agreement," decide with them ... laughing And then the corporation LOHKID will send an ultimatum.

And the manufacturer ALWAYS wants to make money. Cash in, as it is written here. And the more the better. As I understand it, if the manufacturer was trading at a loss, it would be good and fair.
Ideally, this doesn't produce anything at all. Buy somewhere for a ruble, and sell for 100 ... Better for 500 ... No, better for 1000 ... No, ruble is also a pity. Better to steal. lol

Well, I totally agree. The NATO country must submit to the Pentagon. They will appoint what kind of pepelatsy such scanty countries need. And to cite as an example rich and neutral Switzerland, which most likely really needs an "Air Traffic Cop" who must take off quickly, patrol for a long time, have a low stall speed, at least 2M afterburner, well armed and most importantly be noticeable. And who is it? The best: Flankers and Eagles. Cornet is quite suitable for compact Switzerland. But here is the regrate rule (the opposite of the upgrade), because the Cornets go at the same price as the Penguin

So the prices are set by the manufacturer, so the question is why Boeing asks for more than LM. Due to large-scale production (more than a hundred per year) 35 is constantly falling in price. 18 doesn't build at this pace so why be surprised at the difference?
And Switzerland is also unhappy with the fact that 35 because of the embedded systems will constantly merge information into the states. Up to the name of the pilot who performed the flight and the mission plan.

So the prices are set by the manufacturer, so the question is why Boeing asks for more than LM.

Prices are set by the Pentagon. And all countries conclude a contract for the supply of weapons not with the manufacturer, but with the Pentagon. F-35 is no exception. Then the Pentagon enters into contracts with manufacturers.
Almost all arms sales go through линии foreign military sales》 (in Russia this is done by Rosoboronexport).
At low prices, the f-35 can be bought by those countries that participate in the creation program.
Factory prices for f-35A are less than 80 LAMs, (with engine, AFAR, etc.). Foreign customers who do not participate in the program buy 1.5-2.0 times more. In the program for creating the f-35 itself, there are 3 degrees of participation for the allied countries. The higher the degree of participation, the lower the price. Israel does not count, there is a different "situation".
See Pentagon contracts with manufacturers. The F / A-18 super hornet costs less than 60 lam.

About horse prices for f-18, the article did not indicate how many additional engines are attached, and there are more of them than aircraft. And other nishtyaks.

And if at all, then the prices through the foreign military sales program are about 2 times higher than the factory prices. The Pentagon does not sour money.

The advantage is on the F-35A's side as it needs more maintenance from American companies, while the Super Hornet won't pay them as many dividends in the future because it breaks less often.

It can't be what they write in the Western press, it's an uprising against the F-35! You can suffer for this, at least get on the lists of Russian agents!
Now the sect of fans of the F-35 will blow everything here ........... laughing laughing laughing

And another main + is that having paid for a device of the 5th generation, if you go against the party's course, it will turn into the 3rd generation with one click of your finger.

And the manufacturer will take advantage of the main advantage of the F-35, because he has an excellent opportunity to cash in on the service, receiving additional income, including for software updates.

At least someone understood the main advantage of the F-35 on other aircraft))) laughing

      Read the information first-hand.
      F-35: What the pilots say..
Lt. Col. David "Chip" Burke | USMC (retired)
David Burke flew Lockheed Martin F-22s earlier than F-35s. Fifth-generation aircraft, according to the pilot, offer a different set of capabilities from fourth-generation aircraft, and pilots must also fly them differently.

Each generation required new skills, both piloting and using weapons. )
Reseeding from piston pilots worked with cannons, radar was needed to use guided missiles, etc. There is no dispute! The question is, does Switzerland need all this, with whom is it going to fight? Cheaper aircraft are enough to protect their country and patrol the airspace.

The F-35 does require twice as many technicians per plane.
An hour of flight service is about three times more expensive.
But its capabilities are incomparably greater than those of the Super Hornet.
If Switzerland only needs a patrol service - peaceful interceptions
neighbors who accidentally flew into its territory, then it is enough for her
    have Super Hornets.
But if she suddenly has to fight, then it is wiser to take the F-35.

Then the Gripenes are the optimal fighters. The cheapest in service of the modern.

So if it's expensive, don't buy it! Moreover, I will say a terrible thing - if you think that nothing threatens your country, there is no point in NATO membership. I will say even more terrible thing - if you think that the EAEU Customs Union is more profitable than the EU, feel free to leave the EU. And whining in vain is meaningless

Somehow, imperceptibly, under the reasoning about the high cost of the f-35, they gradually came to the situation that the f-35 was cheaper than the f-18 in real contracts.

The F / A-18 Super Hornet is healthier, less moody than Lockheed Martin's, and more efficient.

Well, let them twist and screw up in Hornet so that it breaks just as often ...

Are consumables expensive? Have you tried refilling cartridges yourself? I have been doing this for many years now. I bought a suitable ink for my Canon and I refill it calmly. A new cartridge costs 1500-1800 wooden ones, and my refueling is 30 rubles and 15 minutes of work, and not super-technological, a simple syringe for 5 cubes is enough. I buy cartridges every two years.

    Why buy a goose ...

Instead of the F-35? Easily. Twice as many qualified (expensive) technicians, ten times more paint, which you cannot buy on Ali Express, five times more expensive is the delivery of a part from America, which the plane will write for itself. The claw is stuck, the whole bird is kirdyk.

Switzerland will cope with technicians - a developed country.
      Israel solved this problem quickly.
Spare parts are delivered quickly by Americans, unlike Europeans.
(to any aircraft). Spare parts are not cheap.
Keep paint-coatings a little, touch up cracks on
joints of aluminum and carbon, formed from vibrations on strong bends.
What to do? - when Russia starts to deal with stealth coatings, it will pass
all this on my own experience.
