It is a pity that the third was cowardly, would have shown "heroism" and would have gone straight to the hurias with the whole group.

so yes, comrade, but once they were contacted, it means that information is already being obtained from somewhere, which means that he would not add much to anything. The level, or rather the hierarchy of these types, is at the very end of the food chain.

This is controversial. Khattab and Gelayev and Basayev were poorly educated, but smart enough to be tied to the sp. Services of Turkey, S. Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, etc. A far from small staff of specialists and very serious heads were thinking about their elimination. It is clear that the level of these liquidated "homeless people" is significantly inferior, but they cannot be underestimated. In general, the specialists are great, they worked ahead of the curve, took the "interlocutor" and did not suffer losses. hi

The fact that they worked ahead of the curve is good. So the opera service is working well. Operatives do not eat bread for nothing. The organization of operational work on the territory of the North Caucasian republics and the formation of an agent apparatus are very complex measures.
They took a live accomplice - excellent. The fact that he is an ordinary performer is understandable, but for documenting the results of ORM and his testimony are important. The task is to take it alive if possible.
Khattab was not a sheepherder, and he had training ...

As a rule, those who know something do not take up arms in principle. These are most likely ordinary militants

          no
Just by the example of Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, over the past decade and a half, hundreds (I take only "prominent") fighters with their hands smeared with blood on their elbows, and at the same time very informed, have been liquidated.

So, the assumption is that local residents, and indeed the population of those regions, wants to live in peace. They don't need newcomers, even former locals, with their gangster ideas !!!
Therefore, those "barmaley" do not have time to accomplish anything.
There is a "natural" selection, the final culling and removal of any "weedy, dangerous grass".
