With an eye on technology. Fighter F-15EX goes into series

The first production F-15EX at the assembly stage

US Air Force and Boeing successfully bring serial model to production aviation technicians. An agreement was signed on the construction of promising Boeing F-15EX fighter-bombers. Work on the construction of the first batch of eight aircraft has already begun.

Production contracts

More than a year ago, it became known that the draft military budget for fiscal 2020 Expenses for the construction of the new F-15EX are foreseen. Then it was planned to order the first batch of eight aircraft worth approx. 1,1 billion dollars. In the future, new contracts were planned, for a total of 144 cars. These items of the military budget were approved and accepted for execution. The signing of the relevant contracts was expected in the near future.

On June 30, the Pentagon published information about a new contract with General Electric related to the construction of the F-15EX. The $ 101,3 million contract provides for the supply of an unnamed number of F110-GE-129 turbojet engines, control systems and spare parts, as well as the installation of products on aircraft and subsequent support. Implementation of this contract will continue until November 30, 2022.

On July 13, an official order appeared for the production of new aircraft. The contract value is $ 22,89 billion; the quantity and timing of equipment supplies have not been determined. So far we are talking only about the first batch of eight fighters, and larger batches will be ordered later, according to the results of current work.

Under the terms of the new contract, the first two F-15EXs should be transferred to the customer in the second quarter of FY 2021. - after January 1, 2021, the remaining six vehicles will be built and commissioned no later than the end of December 2023. It is reported that the equipment of the first batch will be sent to the Eglin air base, where it will undergo tests and other procedures necessary for commissioning.

It is curious that the construction of the first production F-15EX has already started. Together with a press release on the order, the Air Ministry published a photograph from the assembly shop. The aircraft with the number "20-0001" is basically formed, but so far does not have a number of systems and devices, and is also not painted. Boeing still has several months to complete the construction. The assembly of the second machine has also begun, but it has not yet been shown.

Solving Problems

The reasons for the appearance of the F-15EX project are quite simple. In recent years, the US Air Force tactical aviation has faced a number of problems, and not all plans have been implemented. Because of this, a “temporary measure” was needed, which becomes the new F-15EX. It is expected that orders for such equipment will allow to close part of the needs of the Air Force in the medium and long term.

Currently, the US Air Force is facing the problem of obsolescence of the F-15C / D fighter fleet. More than 230 of these vehicles remain in service, but in the coming years they will have to be decommissioned. At one time, a 5-generation F-22 Raptor fighter was considered a full replacement for them, but its production volumes were insufficient. In recent years, managed to establish mass production of F-35 Lightning II fighters, but its pace does not meet the needs of the Air Force in the context of replacing old equipment.

The solution to all these problems (temporary and limited) should be the new F-15EX fighter. It belongs to the “4 ++” generation and is inferior to other techniques in a number of characteristics. Moreover, it is based on a well-developed platform and can be produced quickly and in the right quantities.

Pending Deployment

According to the Pentagon's current plans, 76 new-type aircraft will be acquired as part of the five-year Future Years Defense Program. In the second half of the twenties, production will continue, and due to this, the number of aircraft will reach 144.

With the help of the newly built F-15EXs, they will replace the cash F-15Cs that have exhausted their resources. A complete replacement of old equipment in a one-to-one ratio is not planned. Probably the reasons for this are financial or operational. It is argued that the development of new aircraft will be quite simple and will not take much time.

The latest serial production contract does not specify the exact number of F-15EX and the timing of their production. However, the peculiarities of the production of the first batch suggest that the release of 144 fighters will take several years and will continue until the end of the twenties or the beginning of the thirties. Starting from 2022-23 The Air Force will be able to receive at least 10-15 aircraft annually, which will allow for re-equipment within a reasonable time.

However, in the context of terms and combat qualities, there are some difficulties. So, openly talk about reducing the potential of the F-15EX in the distant future. According to current estimates, as early as 2028, such aircraft could not break through modern air defense and solve combat missions over enemy territory. They will be able to work only in areas with or without limited air defense, as well as on their own territory and near bases. More complex tasks will be assigned to another technique.

However, the F-15EX may get some features that are not available for 5th generation fighters. It is considered as a carrier of promising airborne hypersonic weapons. A fighter-bomber will be able to carry large and heavy ammunition that does not fit in the internal compartments of the F-22 or F-35.

Significant benefits

The F-15EX project proposes the construction of a two-seat multipurpose fighter-bomber with a number of characteristic features and noticeable differences from previous aircraft of the family. The existing glider undergoes minor modifications and is saturated with modern equipment that ensures compliance with current customer requirements.

The key difference of the F-15EX is the use of the open OMS architecture (Open Mission Systems), which provides the ability to quickly introduce new technologies of various kinds. Cabin equipment, sighting and navigation system, remote control system, defense complex, etc. were updated.

According to the results of modernization, the aircraft retains its basic flight performance. The payload still reaches 10,4 tons. It is possible to carry bulky and heavy ammunition up to 6,7 m long and weighing more than 3 tons, such as new hypersonic missiles.

Success and failure

The Boeing F-15EX project has reached serial production, and this is considered a new reason for the pride of American aircraft manufacturers. In the near future, the first aircraft of this type will enter the troops, and then mass deliveries will begin with the replacement of obsolete equipment. Recent contracts allow the US Air Force to be optimistic about the future and expect modern aircraft.

However, not everything is so good and joyful. So, the reason for the appearance of the next F-15 modernization project was the problem of other equipment, including last 5 generation. The promising and highly effective F-15EX is just a temporary measure designed to address the unplanned needs of the Air Force. In addition, this aircraft will remain modern and efficient for only a few years - already in the late twenties its role will change.

Thus, a very interesting situation is emerging. Over the next few years, the U.S. Air Force will receive modern fighters with high performance, but with a different set of circumstances and in the absence of problems in other programs, they could do without the F-15EX - and without additional costs for their construction. It turns out that promising projects of the 5th generation again hit the defense budget.

    The author’s conclusion is strange.
It turns out that the relatively inexpensive F-15s produce part of the expensive F-22s in exchange, which is a blow to the budget.

Yeah, moreover, these F15EX aircraft are of a different class and they were needed even if there was a larger number of F22, or it was necessary to make a separate modification of the raptor for EX tasks, which would be an order of magnitude more expensive.

The main thing is no sense. It is not necessary to launch satellites and hypersonic missiles because of the horizon, they do not need to launch a stealth. For hypersonic missiles, the F15 2,5-3 speed of sound will be a big plus, instead of 2-2,2 for F22.

Forget about 3 Machs, God forbid, to give 2,5 in real conditions - with suspensions and full tanks.
And the point here is not at all the power of the engines (this will have an analogue of the AL-31F in afterburner maximum power), but in the thermal limitations of the glider. For 3M you need a completely different glider and intensive cooling of the leading edges and the flashlight.

and so ... 10 tons on a carrier that knocks down air defense and less than 1 ton on a carrier that also knocks down ... what to choose?

                    - 10 tons on the carrier, which the same S-400 knocks down for 300-350 km - and 900 kg on the carrier, which can approach the S-400 at 22 kilometers! The black humor is that the planning range of the eight GBU-39 bombs that each F-22 can carry is 110 km from an altitude of 11 km when dropped at subsonic... For bоhigher altitudes and speeds - the drop range can be increased. When dumping at supersonic and pitching up - increase even more - up to 200+ km! And the S-400 air defense system can only see it from 20 km. That is: the F-22 is guaranteed to destroy the S-400 battery without exposing itself to the slightest danger!

The question is not whether there are pylons or not, the question is whether the F22 will be able to reach maximum performance with weapons on them. An F15 with Mach 2,5 outboard rockets will come out for sure. This is essential for hypersonic and anti-satellite weapons.

The F-15EX sportcoin can throw a hypersonic missile at a speed of 1.8M-2M and from a height of 15 km - this is quite enough to launch its scrumjet, and if it also has a solid fuel accelerator, then there are no problems at all.
No 2.5M will be required from him, maximum performance characteristics - measured only with a smooth wing.

          - Both. An identical function is performed by the PCHN (moving part of the influx) in the Su-57:
          1. At low speeds and during maneuvers with high G-forces and high angles of attack, it prevents flow stall in the air intakes by straightening the flow in the inlet devices.
          2. At supersonic, the upper edge is the first cascade for the formation of a shock wave - several shocks and air enters the engine, slowing down to subsonic speed and increasing the pressure after a series of shock waves.
          3. During takeoff / landing, they function as vortex generators, delaying the stall of the flow from the root edges of the half-wings => increasing the critical angle of attack => decreasing the stall speed.

          - And what about the engines ?? Is there happiness in engines ?! Replace the F22-PW-119 with the F100-PW-100 engines - will it get much worse? NO. Because its main advantage will remain with it - an extremely small EPR. And he and with engines from the F-229 will tear everyone "in the tail and in the mane" with astronomical accounts. The main happiness today is not in engines, but in stealth - firstly, and superior avionics - secondly.

        - The F-15C / D and the F-15E have a resource, it remains a lot. Fighter planes are in short supply in the US Air Force.
        1. It will cost $ 22 billion to restart the F-50 production line just to resume production of the F-22, and the F-15EX production line is in full swing and does not require any additional investment.
        2. F-22 - an aircraft intended for the Third World War, which does not exist and is not particularly foreseen. Its latest cost (net) is $ 153 million per unit. The F-15EX costs almost half, $ 87 million.
        3. F-15EX is much cheaper to operate, it does not need to constantly monitor and correct the RPM condition.
        4. The F-15EX takes up to 10.5 tons of weapons, and its high-altitude and speed characteristics are not inferior to the flight characteristics of the F-22.
        5. Of course, the F-15EX is not an analogue of the Su-35, it is much better - avionics, first of all.
        6. Having a fleet of F-22 + F-35, the nicest thing is to use the F-15EX as an aircraft of the "third wave" (the first is the KR and BR, the second is the stealth), for a massive cleanup of the theater, after the first two have worked there ... And with any opponent - even with a third world country, even in local clashes with Russia.
With China, everything is more complicated here - China also has stealth, production has begun 500 J-20, here the American stealth will have to work much more.

    - Actually, open architecture on American aircraft has been practically obligatory for many years - they always leave a reserve so that they can then cram a few more blocks of avionics, which may appear in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years!
This is not news at all, it is commonplace.

        - "Elementary Watson!" There is a formula for the detection range of a specific target by a specific radar.

Knowing this data, it is possible to determine at what range such and such a radar will detect a target with such and such an RCS.
There is a simplified way: knowing at what range a given radar detects a standard target (for example, with RCS = 1 m²) and knowing the RCS of the target under this angle, you can also determine the detection range of this target by this radar.
Let's take the data of the most sophisticated complex:
        http://pvo.guns.ru/s300v/s300v.htm
        http://pvo.guns.ru/s300v/s300v_2.htm
The fighter [RCS = 3 m²] was detected with a probability of 0,5 at a distance of 240 km.
        This means that the F-35 with RCS = 0.0001 m240 will be detected at a range: XNUMX /√√(3: 0.0001) = 18.23 km
        http://pvo.guns.ru/s300v/s300v_3.htm

The 9S19M2 "Ginger" program review radar was a three-coordinate coherent-pulse centimeter-range radar with a high energy potential, electronically controlled beam in two planes and high throughput.
One of the modes provided the detection and tracking of the "Pershing" type ballistic missile warhead. In this mode, the field of view was +/- 45 degrees. in azimuth, 26 degrees - 75 degrees. in elevation and 75-175 km in range.
The multichannel missile guidance station, when operating in the CU mode, provided the detection of fighters at altitudes of more than 5 km at ranges of 150 km, Scud-type ballistic missiles - 90 km, Lance - 60 km, the head of the Pershing missile - 140 km
        ............................
Let us assume that the head of the Pershing ballistic missile has an RCS of 0.05 m².
This means that the detection range of this radar of the F-35 aircraft will be 140 /√√(0.05: 0.0001) =29.6 km.
But the fact is that neither the F-22 nor the F-35 will approach the S-300/400 air defense system at such distances. Small-diameter bombs GBU-39 (guidance only by GPS) are planned for 110 km when dropped at subsonic from an altitude of 11 km, bombs GBU-53B, which have a four-mode seeker, are planned for a distance of 70 km, when dropped from 11 km. The F-35 does not need to be approached either at a range of 18 km or at a range of 30 km; it is necessary to approach a range of 70-110 km.
By the way: Israeli winged bombs Spice-250 (113 kg) and Spice-1000 (454 kg) are also planned for 110 km, and Spice-2000 (907 kg) - 60 km. Dropped at a higher altitude and higher speed - they fly further ...

For a spherical horse in a vacuum. And now, point by point:
          1. Dmax (as well as EPR) should still depend on the radar range, shouldn't it? If in the centimeter range, the coating and the internal structure of the airframe still allow for stealth (strictly in front), then at the slightest deviation from the normal this is already strongly NOT so. In the decimeter range, it is no longer possible to effectively implement stealth for reasons of a fundamental nature.
          2. It is necessary to distinguish between actual target detection and tracking - these are fundamentally different tasks. The detection of low-signature aircraft with powerful decimeter and especially meter-wide radars has long been worked out, there the low-signature of an aircraft is unrealizable from the word "absolutely", and the question is rather in signal processing. The whole point of stealth is that the short-wave SSTS will not be able to capture such a target from afar and aim the missile defense system. At the same time, longer-wave radars are not suitable for guidance due to the low spatial resolution. Sane officers overseas also understand this and say bluntly that "it is enough to break the chain of operation of the air defense missile system in one link so that the interception does not take place." This link is the difficulty in capturing the STS.
          3. Based on the foregoing, tactics of detecting low-signature aircraft are being built - either by spaced radars (with a significant target parameter), or by long-wave radars, or attached to passive radars (if we talk about the duel situation "S-400 regiment versus F-35 squadron"). Further, having received the primary tie, measures are taken to defeat it. This can be, for example, firing an anti-aircraft guided missile with an ARGSN with target acquisition on a trajectory, it can be firing at a target by another battalion whose radars were silent, etc.
Well, for sweetness, how does the F-35 detect targets (ground, air)? Or does it have subtle radio waves too?;)))

            And now the points:
            1. Dmax (as well as EPR) should still depend on the radar range, shouldn't it?

            - Absolutely right! For stealth, all basic data are given in the centimeter range. In the small decimeter range, in which, in particular, American AWACS (7.5-15 cm) and Russian AWACS aircraft (15-30 cm) operate, the RCS will be 2, maximum 3 times more. In the meter range, where radars like the ancient P-14 and the relatively new ones - the "Sky" family (wavelength up to 1.7 meters) operate, the RCS of stealth aircraft will be 10 times more. But not at 50 or at 100.
If in the centimeter range, the coating and the internal structure of the airframe still allow for stealth (strictly in front), then at the slightest deviation from the normal this is already strongly NOT so. In the decimeter range, it is no longer possible to effectively implement stealth for reasons of a fundamental nature.

            - There is no need to tell fables about "reasons of a fundamental nature" - you do not even have a vague idea of them. Record: There are three types of radio scattering:
            1. Optical - the wavelength is more than 4 times the overall dimensions of the target.
            2. Resonant - the wavelength is approximately commensurate with the overall dimensions of the target.
            3. Rayleigh - the wavelength is much larger than the target.
Neither the centimeter-range radar nor the decimeter-range radar are even close for stealth aircraft beyond point 1.
Over-the-horizon radars operating at wavelengths of 28 meters or more - for them, clause 2 is valid. and item 3, they see stealths almost the same as ordinary airplanes, but there are a number of features - a multi-hundred-kilometer "dead zone", low azimuth accuracy, stationary, huge stations.
            2. It is necessary to distinguish between actual target detection and tracking, these are fundamentally different tasks.

            - These are not fundamentally different tasks, the second plan follows from the first and, probably, you just did not hear the term "tracking on the passage" - track while scan (TWS).
Detection of subtle aircraft with powerful decimeter and especially meter radars has long been worked out

            - Yes, not a damn thing, it has not been worked out anywhere, not even in the US Air Force.
... there the aircraft's stealth is unrealizable from the word "absolutely",

            “Don't talk stupid nonsense.
and the question is rather in signal processing.

            - And snava you with a clever look carry something that you do not understand at all. Naturally, signal processing occurs in any radar / radar station, but the basic radar formula cannot be fooled, I will probably have to cite it here in each topic two times ... laughing
The whole point of stealth is that the short-wave SSTS will not be able to capture such a target from afar and aim the missile defense system.

            - Do you naively think that a VHF radar, for example, like this:
            http://militaryrussia.ru/blog/topic-690.html
Will be able to see the F-22 for 150 kilometers? It's a delusion. Kilometers for 70-80, at best, - from the front hemisphere.

            - There are really very powerful radars, such as Voronezh. They are really able to see both the F-22 and the F-35 kilometers in 200-300. They will be eliminated by stealth-KR at extremely low altitudes. And the washing radars, even the most powerful ones (which I have cited), are not yet able to withstand a real attack from stealth aircraft.
            3. Based on the foregoing, tactics of detecting low-signature aircraft or spaced radars (with a significant target parameter) are being built

            - We'll have to wait - until the alternate reality becomes true. This has not yet been worked out on a mass scale.
            ... or long-wave radar

            - see above.
... or attached passive radars (if we talk about the duel situation "S-400 regiment versus F-35 squadron").

            - We have agreed - DO NOT LOOK BREEDING ?!
Further, having received the primary tie

            - The purpose of stealth is that it is extremely difficult to find and capture such an aircraft, using all the capabilities available in the army's arsenal. No matter how sofa hamsters dream about it.
... measures are being taken to defeat her. This can be, for example, firing SAM with ARGSN with target acquisition on the trajectory

            And at what distance do you think ARGSN will see a stealth plane if it sees a Su-30 for 16 kilometers? D = 16 / √√ (20: 0.0002) = 0.9 km.
... it can be firing at the target by another battalion, whose radar stations were silent, etc.

            - Yes, yes: they were disguised as a stack of hay. And suddenly - again! And - point blank! laughing
Well, for sweetness, how does the F-35 detect targets (ground, air)? Or does it have subtle radio waves too?;)))

            - Do I have to talk about LPI mode again and again on each page five times a day?
The Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) capability of the radar defeats conventional RWR / ESM systems. The AN / APG-77 radar is capable of performing an active radar search on RWR / ESM equipped fighter aircraft without the target knowing he is being illuminated. Unlike conventional radars which emit high energy pulses in a narrow frequency band, the AN / APG-77 emits low energy pulses over a wide frequency band using a technique called spread spectrum transmission. When multiple echoes are returned, the radar's signal processor combines the signals. The amount of energy reflected back to the target is about the same as a conventional radar, but because each LPI pulse has considerably less amount of energy and may not fit normal modulation patterns, the target would have a difficult time detecting the F-22.

EPR stealth aircraft will be more than 10 times. But not 50 and not 100.

Hard case. Okay, I'll try it on my fingers.
For interaction with a wave, the structure must have a size comparable to the wavelength. The special stealth coating of considerable thickness is not just because there is a special filler responsible for the centimeter range, working in conjunction with honeycomb structures.

The foreground picture shows such a structure. This is how almost all-aspect stealth is achieved in the centimeter range.
There is nothing to absorb the decimeter range. Its engine and wiring, metal elements of the fuselage, metal weapons reflect it. Therefore, interference suppression becomes more effective when reflecting specially selected structural elements with a characteristic quarter-wave size. It turns out lot worse and only in the anterior hemisphere.
Meter range - no options. Materials that absorb well in the centimeter range have relatively high conductivity, enhancing the effect.

Watch Hollywood less, you don't have to talk nonsense. You open your own formula and see that apart from EPR everything is under the root of the fourth degree. The signal strength must be sufficient in any mode for the receiver to receive and process it, and it depends to the fourth power on the distance. In this case, for a powerful ground-based passive radar, the problem of radiation detection is on orders easier than for the small radar Adir'a. As soon as he turns on the radar for radiation, it will glow like a Christmas tree.

The polymer coating with a ferromagnetic powder filler F-22 / F-35 / Su-35 absorbs radio waves of all ranges - with varying degrees of success, of course.

The honeycomb structure of the F-117 airframe also absorbs radio waves, together with the honeycomb, the faceted shape of the airframe surface is used, reflecting part of the probe radiation to the sides of its source.

Polymer coating and honeycomb are not used together, since the coating shields the honeycomb from radiation.

      - It's in the past. The F-117 and B-2 really had such a structure. Therefore, they had to be kept in hangars, where a certain temperature and humidity were maintained, which is too expensive... The F-22 / F-35 plating and radar absorbing materials are much thinner, but work just as efficiently as the F-117 and B-2 multi-layer plating. But they are not afraid of rain or snow.

Then not on your fingers. Let us set the initial conditions - the distance from the aircraft to the "passive radar" (correctly in this case, indeed, the "RTR station") is 100 km. The power of the reflected signal received by the aircraft radar is proportional to fourth degree of distance, the power of the same signal received by the RTR station- second, that is, the RTR station receives a signal 10000 times stronger than the sender's radar. The antenna of the RTR station has a larger area and a higher gain, approximately every 6-7. This is already up to 70000 times, with a comparable quality factor of the receiving path of the radar and RTR, the intrinsic noise of the amplifiers. Further, the coefficient of reflection from the object is also different from unity, averaging 0,6-0,7. In total, the RTR station receives, at a distance of 100 km from the aircraft, 100 * 100 * 7 / 0,7 = 100 times more powerful radar signal than its own, but reflected from it. This is physics, a school course. With increasing distance, the picture only gets worse for stealth.

The RTR station does not emit anything, it does not care for the EPR of stealth in 0,000000001 sq. m. And there is no need to look for him, he will declare himself by turning on the radar.

Those who actually operate these complexes are well aware of this and do not rely on LPI. Therefore, the tactics of their use assumes autonomous use for previously reconnoitered stationary targets. If reconnaissance is needed, then AWACS is involved, or one of the F35s is in active mode from behind, the rest receive a control center from him, etc.

Let us set the initial conditions - the distance from the aircraft to the "passive radar" (correctly in this case, indeed, the "RTR station") is 100 km. The power of the reflected signal received by the aircraft radar is proportional to the fourth power of the distance, the power of the same signal received by the RTR station is the second, that is, the RTR station receives a signal 10000 times more powerful than the sender's radar.

      - To this point - everything is absolutely correct.
The antenna of the RTR station has a larger area and a higher gain, approximately every 6-7. This is already up to 70000 times, with a comparable quality factor of the receiving path of the radar and RTR, the intrinsic noise of the amplifiers.

      - But with the sharp directivity of the antennas of the same "Kolchuga" everything is more than modest: they receive signals in a wide angle - otherwise they will not catch anyone.

And this is where the "nuances" begin:
      1. "Kolchuga" (made more than 40 years ago and its analogues) is designed to detect and search for the location of radiation sources either all-aspect (radio communication stations), or, if it is a radar, with huge radiation patterns with very high side lobes.
      2. The main directional diagram of both the F-22 and the F-35 is needle-shaped, with a diameter of ~ 2 °, and the level of their side lobes is extremely low, of the order of -60 dB on average. Therefore, to catch the radiation of such radars with these antediluvian RTR stations and to determine the place of aircraft with them is a highly hopeless task. There is no triangulation.
Those who actually operate these complexes are well aware of this and do not rely on LPI.

      - Of course they do, but they forgot to tell you about it ...
Therefore, the tactics of their use assumes autonomous use for previously reconnoitered stationary targets.

      - By stationary - of course, but not only. The GBU-53B bombs also perfectly catch mobile ground targets, provided that the speed is no more than 70 km / h.
If reconnaissance is needed, then AWACS is involved, or one of the F35s is in active mode from behind, the rest receive a control center from him, etc.

      - If there is no preliminary target designation or you need to conduct additional reconnaissance - the F-35 searches for targets itself (see video above). Who will provide additional target designation for him hundreds of kilometers away somewhere in the depths of Syria ?? The AWACS aircraft will not get there - it is too visible, too dangerous.
Belief in "no analogues" LPI and stealth is certainly good, but knowing the real state of affairs is also useful.

      - This is your blind faith complexes 40 years ago, in fact, they are not at all as good as you think. Yes, they weren't even good then, they did not show themselves in any of the local conflicts.

He seeks targets himself where there is no serious opponent. MANPADS, MiG-21, Su-24, S-200, etc. naphthalene. This is where LPI comes in handy. Against an equal enemy, there will be AWACS at a distance of 400 km from the line of contact with the air enemy and 250-300 with the ground one. There is nothing to get it from the ground (the Syrians and Iranians - exactly), they will cover their F35s from the fighters, what is the danger ??

Chain mail was for example (if someone did not understand). I will not list modern Russian ones, besides, many people there plow the cornfield. "The Czech company ERA manufactures and supplies the ground forces with the Vera-E (VERA-E) electronic reconnaissance complex.

The complex provides reconnaissance of air targets at a range of up to 1 km, and ground targets up to 000 km in the frequency range 18-000 MHz. It allows searching, detecting and recognizing IRI in the sector up to 450 ° in azimuth (expanding up to 40 ° is possible), simultaneously tracking up to 120 targets with displaying the current situation on the display and determining the coordinates of IRI with an accuracy of 360-120 m. The information update frequency is 10-100 s. "

      - He looks for targets himself where he was not previously given and not set in his bombs the exact coordinates of targets. If issued and installed - flies and drops bombs, and then comes back).

      - It's even hard to imagine who you took here as two "equal opponents" ?? Let's say USA and China... American AWACS after all the upgrades - a wonderful thing, as we recently found out - detects a target with RCS = 1 m² for 420 km. But let's imagine that the Chinese have modest achievements, J-20 EPR = 0.01 m², only. But AWACS will then see J-20 only for 420 / √√ (1: 0.01) =133 kilometers. You placed AWACS at a distance of 400 km from the line of contact with the enemy - so if the J-20 is still on the other side - what is the use of this AWACS for their fighters ?! WHO WILL HE SEE ?? Information from him - ZERO!
Don't you "cut through" such elementary stuff? Make at least a pencil drawing on a piece of paper before writing this garbage, "laughing chickens" ...

      - I repeat: there are a lot of Russian S-300s, with all their radars. Who knows what will come to mind Shoigu, who (they say) is a candidate to succeed the President of the Russian Federation, will give (without asking Putin) the command: "Trying to shoot down all Israeli planes over Syria!" The Israeli mobile complex RTR GES-2I0, manufactured by Elisra Electronic Systems, has been in service with the country's ground forces since 1997. It operates in the frequency range of 500-18 MHz (there is a possibility of expanding the upper frequency limit to 000 MHz), providing reconnaissance of air targets at ranges of up to 40 km, and ground (surface) targets up to 000 km. The complex allows you to search, technical analysis and recognition of IRI in the sector up to 450 ° in azimuth (with an extension to 40 °), simultaneously track up to 180 targets with the display of the current situation and determine their coordinates with an accuracy of 360-200 m.

The GES-210 implements a goniometric method for determining the coordinates of the IRI. The complex consists of three reception areas and one central station. To improve the measurement accuracy, they use amplitude and interferometric methods of direction finding.
As you can see, everything works out great.

      - Since you do not know that the standard distance of three Kolchuga stations is 30 km from each other, even a course in Technion would not help you ... No stain from one DN does not fall on two receiving antennas of the RTR station! No triangulation conditions ... laughing tongue

War is an economy. If you have a superweapon that can destroy an AA battery, then that's great. But if each use of superweapons requires huge costs, then a mission to destroy an air defense battery is irrational. If your opponent's weapons are just as effective, but using them requires fewer resources, then the war will be lost by you, unless you win quickly. If your opponents are able to exchange your superweapon at a reasonable price for themselves, then your strategic loss is inevitable, despite impressive tactical successes.
Therefore, even the United States is in dire need of mass production of cheap weapons with low cost of use.

On July 13, an official order appeared for the production of new aircraft. The contract value is $ 22,89 billion; the quantity and timing of equipment supplies have not been determined. So far we are talking only about the first batch of eight fighters, and larger batches will be ordered later, according to the results of current work.

Terrible figures are obtained, 2,8 billion dollars for 1 new F-15 aircraft, while the cost of one F-35 was reduced to 85 million dollars.
It turns out one F-15 at the price of 33 F-35 ...... ????
it seems that the "author" confused something with the contract amounts ......

Even if the contract amount of 22, 89 billion is divided by 144 units, then we get 158 million dollars for one F-15, which is almost twice as expensive as the US Department of Defense now pays for one F-35. ???
      Strange budget savings .....
