In TsAGI, “Izvestia” was told that the air combat simulation system currently installed was outdated and did not allow for the testing and development of new fifth-generation fighters. Now the stand is equipped with the cabin of the MiG-21, which ceased to be produced in the 1985 year. According to employees, the new models of aircraft have different dimensions and composition of equipment.
“Such flaws lead to a loss of realism in conducting research, and we get inaccurate results,” explained the source at TsAGI.
The complex itself is a pilot stand with a spherical visualization system. The pilot is located in the cockpit, which is equipped with these control systems, various consoles and dashboard. Nine multimedia projectors reproduce images of the environment - the sky, runways, etc.
The administration of TsAGI could not provide an operational comment on the new system. One of the participants in the creation of the complex used now was the center of scientific and technical services “Dynamics”.
- The system will simulate an air combat perspective fighter, and not the MiG-21, which no one needs. It will be a fighter conforming to modern standards, most likely - a fifth-generation device, which makes the Sukhoi Design Bureau, - explained in the Dynamic Center of TsNTU.
The TsAGI also stated the need to develop the institution itself. Now his experimental capabilities have decreased compared with the world level. One of the reasons for this, experts called the lack of stable funding for almost 10 years.
Under the auspices of the FSUE "TsAGI" can create a research center. The director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Ruslan Pukhov told “Izvestia” about this.
- Now his working title is the Scientific and Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”. It will function like the current Kurchatov Institute, the Pukhov explained. - In the aviation industry there is UAC (United Aircraft Corporation, which includes all Russian aircraft manufacturers. - Izvestia), it is engaged in the industrial part.
